How do I see channel 501? I have a 722. Do I have to wait for the new software update to view it? My guide goes 500 then 502. Thanks for the info too I love this site.

All the talk of "1080p" is strictly related to VOD, which in turn requires a hard drive. The 211 doesn't have a hard drive... Of course, Dish claimed they'll update those receivers someday to allow external drives to be attached. When that happens -- no one hold their breathe -- maybe any necessary updates for 1080p will come with it.
I ordered "I Am Legend" on HD PPV when it came around the first time, and it is still on my EHD and still playable. I am looking forward to doing an A/B comparison between them, but for now I have still not received the "Turbo" update on my 622. Still can't see channel 501. Dish must have had a snag in the turbo rollout.
It is possible that TurboHD has nothing to do with 1080p and everything to do with the new package(s).
OK, I just tried it and I can see the Turbocharged message on channel 78. The movie still hasn't downloaded yet. When do they push that kind of stuff down? Is it in the early morning hours when no one is usually watching, or just any time one of the tuners is off?

Actually WPIX-HD has been up for quite a while (at least a month, I think).
Regardless, it's a great addition.
The two aren't directly related, but they sure as hell made it confusing.... TurboHD are obviously the new programming packages. "TurboCharged" is the addition of 1080P VOD. Someone likes the word "Turbo", huh ?
Hopefully this also means that no hard drive space will be consumed unless I order one of these VOD/PPV programs. Is that correct?.....Channels 501 - 510 will have movies listed with no start times. Clicking on them you will be able to order them and then they will start playing immediately as they are stored on your hard drive.

Your Dish receiver already has a portion of it "locked" away from you for just these functions and has from the get-go.
What Dish needs to do is give the option they did with the 625 DVRs to re-partition the drives to remove the VOD part and let us have that for our own recordings.
Dish already owns partitioned space on your hard disk that does not interfere with your own storage are.
So when is the I am Legend VOD movie supposed to be available.
And I take it we won't be able to record this. Just able to watch it for 4 hours after we order?

I'm confused, I have the absolute HD package now, the $29.99 for all their HD, it looks liek to get the same thing going foward it is the Platinum TurboHD and is $49.99?? Did I miss somehitng here, I se I pick up EncoreHD, so I guess going forward they'll try to force me off my plan into the Platinum?
This has been one heck of a good day. I was scrollign through my new movies favorites list, and could not believe how many commercial-free, unedited choices I now have in HD. Its pretty darn sweet.

But since you and others have brought it up.... A - Is the "partition" that Dish reserves for it's junk anywhere near large enough to hold 10 (501-510 according to Scott) 1080p movies whether or not they have been "Turbocharged"?
B - Or as Scott's post suggested, will Dish download the 1080p content "on demand" with some time delay to build a buffer and only maintain only a relatively small portion of it on disk at any one time?

My gut is that the new 722k (I think that's the designation) will have considerably larger HDDs for the VOD stuff than the 722 has. Just a gut feeling. I still wish they would just let us choose whether to use that space for VOD or for more DVR storage.
