of Course I meant TNT and not THT. :)
I was wondering if these channels changed over to MPEG4 yet?

Thanks

Could you post the link to the channel list showing if they are MPEG2 or 4? Thanks

Also I have a question I have always wondered but never asked- Why do the HD channels have 2 channel numbers like 9000 and 300?

Click on "The List" on the menu bar at the top of the page.

The lower channel number is a mapdown channel that is near (or the same as) the Standard Definition channel. It is to make it easier to find the channel. The upper channel number is the actual channel in the system.

A guess might be that they will wait until EchoStar 11 arrives, and then setup the MPEG4-HD feeds on EchoStar 11, and then when the channel map switches, the channel will automatically switch to the MPEG4-HD feeds on the new satellite...

I'm disappointed HDNet is still MPEG2 (this is confirmed by R5000-HD output stream to my computer).

I was looking forward to the improved picture quality on August 1st!

This is my though as well. Why fool around to uplink new MPEG4 HD to E8 when they will have to mess with it for E11 in 3 weeks or so?

Plus, I bet there are still people who haven't got an MPEG4 box yet.

How does this work? I see two entries for ESPN one as MPEG2 and another as MPEG4 with different transponder numbers

Is there a way to force my receiver to select the MPEG4?

The only other ESPN I see is the AK spotbeams. Which happen to be in mpeg4.

MPEG4 is so much better. When I record HD programs it uses so little space. I have 30 hours and I record something that is 90 minutes and it only uses about 60 minutes of space. I thought after August 1st they were turning off all MPEG2 for all channels.

By the way besides recording it and seeing how much space it uses, how can you tell if a channel is MPEG2 or MPEG4.

It uses more space to record something in HD,rather than in SD.

There must be someone that still has an 811 hooked up. They could confirm that if they still receive the channels, then they are still mpeg2.
