Hey, something is different.

Looks like one of the two sub forums to the Dish forum has merged with the main forum.

I say bravo!:up

When I owned a 522 I was annoyed and having to swim through the sea of HD questions so the HD subforum was greatly welcomed.

Later after I had a 622 for several months I began to see that there was beginning to be more and more folks starting HD related topics in the general Dish forum and it got to be a chore deciding where to look for the issue I was interested in so I knew it was only a matter of time until HD became the rule, not the exception.

Now what about this: A general Dish forum (this one) that includes technical stuff and one sub forum that deals with customer relations issues, not only but most especially what channels are carried and CSR horror stories?

Is this itself an appropriate thread topic? Does it help or annoy the rest of you readers?

Someone will complain that the HD questions and comments are in the main forum. ;)

I like the idea since we're getting more and more HD comments and questions anyways.

And the REAL question:

Is this a place to come to talk about channels carried and P*** poor customer service that is choked with endless nerd talk. OR, is this a place where video nuts can go on about p verses i and the eastern arc that gets choked by endless rants about Dish's p*** poor customer service?

An entire forum for "customer service" issues is not a good idea.... Not to mention it would be more inactive than some think it would be.

Great! Now Scott can turn the Uplink Center Dish Network portion into a subforum of this one.

Krell, I have thought about it, but want to keep the uplink seperate since its a custom written feature for us (like TheList is) and I want to highlight the work of the folks who made those things possible. (Thank you to them!)

I dont want them getting lost in the shuffle. :)

Yep, I'm one

I think that HD really should continue to be in a separate forum. There is already a Technical Discussion for general discussion of the Tech issues for all receivers. There is a general discussion for issues such of customer service. HD has it's own issues due to it going all MPEG 4 and having to ability to have an ext HDD.

Bingo Hall is on the money, 95% of the HD posts were put in the main area... and I was just as guilty in doing it.

No one really talks about SD channels anymore, its all HD. :)

How about making the Uplink Center a Dish Network sub forum (and ExpressVu under Canadian Sat)? This would set these apart to thank Digiblur and JohnH for all their hard work, but make it easier to click on it (not having to select it from all the other forums), and we more easily notice new posts and new uplink reports. I sometimes only remember to go there Wednesday.

We could do that, the issue would be it would look like there is no posts there.

I wish there was a way to "mirror" forums, that would be great if we had something like that. :)

woah, I login and all the sudden my favorite forum is gone.

Anyone think SD related stuff should be a sub forum now?

Scott, my view is that the Uplink Center is right where it should be. It makes it real easy for guys like me who sometimes have only a 1 or 2 minute interval to check what's happening to pop on to the site, hit the Uplink Center for the latest, and then back out and on to work.

Best regards, and thanks especially to Digiblur and JohnH for their continuing efforts with the Uplink Center.

Shouldn't "The List" be under the FTA forum ? I never checked it before today and see that it's exclusively related to non-subscription channels. To be honest, the vast majority of regular Dish, DirecTV, Bell, etc, etc customers won't be reading that. Those that do are likely into FTA in addition to their subscribed services and already frequent the FTA forum here.

Really the only problem I might have with it is , I scan 5-6 Satellite Guys forums once a day and if they build up so many posts that it takes 2-3 pages to read through them all it gets to be a bit of a drag.

There are subscription channel lists in there. All the Dish and DirecTV stuff are listed in the list.

We are working to combine posts on the same topic which will hopefully keep all topics on one page. One of the issues we have been having is there are 10 - 15 topics which are all talking about the same thing. We are working to fix this. :)

Didn't realize that.... When I go there, I see all the mention of Free To Air and thought "nothing for me here". Maybe the subscription link needs to be spelled out or, get rid of the FTA list on the first page you come to and instead, list "Free To Air", DirecTV, Dish, and so on as links.
