Will we be seeing La Liga in HD this upcoming season? With VOOM gone, is any other network thinking of picking this up, or are we stuck with SD on GOL-TV?

WorldSportHD is still on VOOM. And VOOM is still up on Cablevision. La Liga contracts have not been canceled yet, as far as I know. So, we'll see what happens...

As far as we know over here (not much to be fair) there is still another year to run on the Primera Liga deal....The good news is that this season Barca are back under the Mediapro wing - so we can get into the Camp Nou. We think Real Madrid are as well - at least they signed a contract with Mediapro for this coming season, BUT (remember this is Spain, they may be Euro Champs but organisation is another matter) Sogecable say their deal gives them the right to unilaterally extend for another year...ie next season. Which would be a pain in the ar**. Mediapro say this is rubbish, so I predict another summer of tug of war. Clearly Madrid want the Mediapro deal cos it gives them loads more cash..

By the way, looking at the WorldSport website today, there is no sign of the disclamer about Dish Network, indeed on top right it says 'Available on Dish Network and Interactive Optimim'
Does this mean an end to the dispute? (Sorry to not know, but I've been away on holiday for a week)

So to sum up: as far as we know YES there will be Primera Liga. YES we have Barca and we could have Madrid back.....But that's all I know...
cheers

The disclaimer is still there, it just doesn't pop up every time. As for Dish Network logo on WorldSportHD.com - I don't remember it ever been removed. I think they just forgot about it. It's gone from VOOM.com though...

Being a Dish subscriber, and an old VOOM subscriber, I'm looking at zero La Liga games this coming season because GolTV has been dumped from Dish now because of a contract issue with how much Gol wanted for their channel. Apparently, Dish has something against showing La Liga football matches. I complained bitterly to them and reduced my channel package to reflect that fact, but they've done nothing. If DirecTV would pick up WorldSport HD with La Liga games, I'd switch to DirecTV. It's just plain criminal!

If GolTV were in HD, I'd jump to DirecTV immediately! Alas, I'm looking at no La Liga games for the first time since VOOM opened its doors on the La Liga season back in 2004 and I'm so upset, I'm crying over it. Why won't the big satellite companies cover Spanish futbol?? WHY?

Emotionally disturbed over facing a complete season without La Liga,

The rumour is that for 2009-2010, it may be on ESPN and in HD...

I thinks it will be 1 or the max 2 games the rest go the ESPNdesportes. Maybe the perfect time to launch EDPNdesportesHD since alot of the Laliga games are already done in HD i think 4 games a week right now by Mediapro.

If they did that, they would be pioneering, as Spanish Language channels have the least amount of HD programming (in the Western Hemisphere).
