Smart Cards

Ask Foxbat about the numbers of his new purple G3 cards. ;) You will see similarities.
They both start with S19, but that's not what you mean, is it? Sys Info shows DNASP241 DshH02 on my ViP 211.

I'm looking at the Sys Info on my TR-40, but it doesn't show a Smart Card ID, just the Receiver ID.

So far all ppl reported the new G3 (purple if external) have same IDs:
- DNASP 241
- Revision DshH02.

As to DTVPal/TR-40, the device carry undisclosed embedded smart card [DNASP 243, Revision DshH80] and Dish keep users in a dark regarding a purpose of it.

Smith is correct, I only received one card for my 622 and none for the 722 which has no card. On the instructions sheet there were two boxes on the bottom of the page one side had a smart card with the R00 # listed above, the other side had a R00 # of the 722 and a note on the bottom of the box reading: No smart card required for this receiver. Both DNASP are now the same. I am not sure how long I have had my 722, 3 or 4 months.

Yeah...I got a 722 and a 222 about a month ago, and according to what's posted here, they both have the built-in new cards. Unless you received old stock, you're probably set if you had a VIP type box installed in the last few months I would guess...but that's just speculation on my part.

And again - keywords are here "DNASP 241" and "Revision DshH02" from your System Info screen.

All the talk about internal/extrenal/slot/embedded is IRRELEVANT !

You'll force to bring to that level by Dish - by new IRD/DVR or cards.

So if all goes well on October 8th I can buy the Dish 1000.4 and be good to go.

I know that 72.7 and 77 channels are already using the new G3 smart card system, so the receivers will simply not work if you don't have a new smart card.

But, there is also the question of authorization.

For example, there are channels that I subscribe to, which are duplicated in the 5000 channel range, and those duplicates are transmitted on 110 which I receive, but the receiver is not authorized to tune to those channels - even though they are the exact same channels that I have subscribed to. (I can only tune to them in the 9000 channel range.)

So, does anyone know that "Western Arc" subscribers are "authorized" to tune channels on 72.7 and 77 ??

I was mailed two smart cards and I have two Dish322 receivers. I was given instructions to insert the cards. The first receiver I stuck the card in and it almost fell into the receiver, really weird. I had to get tweezers to take it out. The 2nd receiver there was alot more resistance putting it in and it went in just fine with about 10% of the card sticking out. The receiver reset by itself and I was successful. BUT the first receiver I don't understand whats going on. Is it possible that my first receiver wasn't built correctly?? Maybe it doesn't have an internal card receiver(whatever its called).

The front panel may have come slightly loose.....remove the five screws (around the back and under the receiver).........pull the front panel off slowly by pressing the four plastic tabs at the front. Then put the card in the front panel slot, by opening the door, and push the panel back on, making sure that the card enters the beige colored card reader slot on the board......then screw back up and enjoy.

I've been spreading the word at work, but no one else has received the letter or card(s) yet. One guy still has a 3900 :)eek:) even though I've been trying to get him to upgrade to HD to go with his Sony 60" SXRD.
