Is this issue with my 622 or my stereo receiver?

So after having Dish moved from my old house to my new house, I have a new issue. I'm using the same 622 and aiwa DD receiver that I had previously used with no issues.

Here's the issue. My 622 is set to DD/PCM mode. Start on HIST HD channel, turn aiwa on and I get DD stereo display and output thru the front speakers and center speaker (I can hear the voices). If I change the channel to HIST SD channel, the aiwa displays ProLogic and I hear all audio. I change back to HIST HD and I get the DD stereo display but now no audio thru front speakers, only from the subwoofer. I turn the aiwa off and back on and the audio works fine. I can repeat above to reproduce the problem.

So because of this, anytime I switch around thru channels, I sometimes get missing audio with some channels.

Now, geez, I'm here watching Jay Leno and 622 in DD/PCM mode. The aiwa displays DD5.1, but I hear nothing but sub. It goes to commercial and it works fine, full DD5.1. The next commercial, nothing but sub, next commercial, fine. WTF??

So frustrating.

Since you unhooked everything, seems logical something was not hooked back up correctly.

Its only one cable between the 622 and the aiwa, an optical cable. The 622 has only one optical output and the aiwa has only one optical input.

Besides, if it was hooked up wrong, then the audio wouldn't work at all. It works, but stops working when the channel is changed. This isn't a symptom of having cables hooked up incorrectly.

It sounds like your optical cable might have been damaged... possibly kinked excessively... it's cheap to find out... if you're sure it's hooked up correctly and the settings are the same as before, there is no magical solution.... something is broken.

I've tried 3 seperate optical cables. Same issue.

Agree that something is broken, but the "what" is the problem.

Here's an example. Watching Life on NBC. Full DD5.1, goes to commercial, aiwa still shows DD5.1 but no sound except for sub.

Well.... I've been installing for years now and based on experience, I would definately assume the Dish receiver is defective before blaming the stereo.

I was thinking just the opposite, since restarting the AIWA fixes the problem.

Well, sometimes this works. While watching Life in DD5.1, when it went to commercial I tried turning off the aiwa and turning it back on. But, still no sound from the commercial.

This sucks. I don't want to have to buy another 5.1 HTIB 'cause of this, especially to find out its not the aiwa.

You say you just moved.... I take it Dish did the move for you? If so, you are under Warranty and should be able to get a new 622 sent to you for free...
