Are anyone who is getting the Lexington Ky. HD locals from 77 also getting sd CBS and sd CW(channel 251) from 61.5, 72.7, or 77 also? I just called to get a work order Monday to put up the 1000.4 dish and upgrade my 311 to a VIP 612. I asked the rep if I would still get CBS and CW(channel 251) because they arent in HD yet and he said no that I would only get ABC, NBC , and FOX. The new dish should pickup 61.5, 72.7, and 77 im currently getting 110, 119, and 129 and I dont want two dishes on my house. So please let me know if you are getting sd CBS (channel 27) and sd CW (channel 251) by just picking up 61.5, 72.7, and 77 or I may be cancelling the work order. FYI they let me upgrade my 311 to a VIP 612 for free with a 24 month commentment of course. Also, I told them that I had not received my smartcards yet and asked if that would be a problem and they said no.

Just called dish back and they are telling me now that I cant even get the 1000.4 dish until Jan. or Feb. I explained to them that they had already setup a work order to come and put one up on Monday. So if your a current customer your SOL until Feb. They did say that I could get my locals in HD, but that would be the only channels id be receving. Cant be put on the eastean arc until Jan or Feb. They worry more about customers they dont have than the ones they actually having paying them. I told the rep that, that was probaly why Dish is losing customers every quarter. So no HD locals out of Lexington for me until later.

I wondered about your first post until I read the second one. Today I called Dish and requested a service call to set me up with my HD locals. The CSR said sorry, couldn't do, they are on a roll-out schedule and I'll get mine when it comes my turn. If I understood the CSR correctly, he said Dish expects to have more capacity in 30 days or so.

The reason why they are not allowing existing customers to do a 1000.4 upgrade yet is they are waiting until they have their smart card replacement program finished. Alot of the Mpeg4 channels on the eastern arch are already running on the new encryption g3 format. So they don't have techs out putting in a 1000.4 for someone who does not have the new smart card, then they would have to go to the 2 dish solution anyway. Most techs would not check for updated smart cards, or even see if all the customers channels are coming in. I will bet in a lot of situtions, especially in KY that where a Dish was set to receive the western arch, replacing the dish to eastern arch my not be so easy with trees and mountain sides in the way, you have to relocate the dish and the wiring, WHAT A HEADACH!

i called as soon as lexington HD locals showed up on dishnetwork.com. they came and put up a 77w wing dish for an extended commitment. no i'm not getting CBS/CW, but I get them OTA. i asked about the possibility moving to EA and the installer said "yeah there's a way, but it's not legit." basically he said "move" and he'll come out and said there's no LOS for western arc... the only option is EA so that's what they'll give ya. i get reception issues with 129, so that would be nice but sounds like a headache. hopefully the new satellite will solve some of my woes.

a buddy of mine signed up pre-EA annoucement, and the tech told him that he didn't have LOS for the western arc and to wait for EA. after EA was announced he called back. they came out sunday and a new tech said he didn't have LOS for EA either. neither tech got on the roof and they just walked around the house a bit. this is in suburban lexington, so there are trees but it's not a forest or anything. i'm no pro but it looked to me like there were some spots on his roof that would give EA line of sight. should my buddy call a different retailer? anyone have suggestions? feedback greatly appreciated...

I may be wrong but I think you should be getting the SD CBS WKYT channel 27 if you have a dish pointed at 77. According to the uplink reportS SD CBS WKYT channel 27 (Mpeg4) was uplinked and turned on the same days the HD channels were. CW channel 251 wasnt so I can see not getting it.

Same here, I just got a wing dish installed on Sunday for 77. It's great to finally have an option other than OTA. I thought I wouldn't have LOS for 77 because of trees and power lines, but it was no problem.

According to info. on n2yo.com E8 at 77W has 16 spot beams. i think I read somewhere that the Lexington HD locals are on TP 20, spot beam 3. But what do I know?

Question for Lexington folks with an over the air ant. and a 622 or 722 dvr. Does your KET hd on channel 46.3 skip and stutter? Mine has for at least 6 months rendering the channel unusable. Would be nice if eastern arc provided a KET hd feed as I would think my problem would have a solution.

Same thing happens here on 15.3. Also if I record a HD program it comes up blank. I sent an email to KET to see if they have a solution.

KET came back and said it was a problem with the receiver in the 622/722's. Forwarded the response to Dishquality and they are looking at it.

William at AVS told me he made some encoder changes. Check out the HD OTA tonight and let me know how it looks.
