Ok, so I finally ordered dish. I have 2 HD t.v's and 2 standard def t.v.'s They are sending out the VIP 222, and the Vip 722. My only concern is that my son might screw up some recordings, as he will also be hooked to the 722. I will not have OTA on it. Now if something is recording, can my son watch a different channel on his standard def, and then could we also watch different channel on the HD set, or does one of us have to watch the recorded channel? Can you schedule two recordings at the same time from one box? If it is recording 2 channels at the same time, those, I assume are the only channels that you can watch?
Now when I do dish builder online, it shows me getting one 722, one other HD receiver, and then a standard def receiver also, which I think is what I would prefer. I called dish, and she said that would be extra monthly fee, but it is not showing extra in the price on the dish site. I am assuming the Non HD receiver would run 2 t.v's which is fine, and then a regular receiver for the other standard def t.v.
The only way that I know that is a 722, is that I still see the $50 upgrade charge.
Also, are the lease fee's for the extra receivers waived, if you keep them hooked to a phone line?

If you are recording two programs at a time (on the 2 tuners) you cannot watch a third since you won't have OTA (that's why you should). What is recording on TV1 (tuner 1) and Tv2 (tuner 2) is what each TV will be showing. You could watch a pre-recorded show on each TV, but not another live program.

The 722 will serve one of your SD's. The 222, the other (but no DVR). You will have a leased receiver fee for one of the two tuners. The primary (the 722) fee is built in. I would suggest calling to order as opposed to the dish builder. No assumptions or surprises. Also, you probably want to order DVR advantage which will provided your locals and one DVR fee.

Something you might want to consider is a VIP 211(single HD receiver) for the second HDTV which, as of last week, will function as a DVR on an external hard drive...$39.00 one time activation fee. Then a regular SD receiver, a 311? for the other SD set. NOTE: A 211 EHD cannot be used with the 722.

I would have the 722 hooked to 1 T.V. Then the 222 would run my other HDTV, and a standard t.v., Then I would have a regular receiver for the third. That would be an extra lease fee for the third box, which is the standard?

Do the installers typically carry other receivers with them, in case something doesn't work out?
No. Please see my first post as I did some editing. Did you specifically ask for a separate SD receiver, because normally they would presume an SD set for each the 722 and 222, and no third receiver.

A 211 EHD cannot be used with the 722.

So if I have a 722, then I can't us a 211 with the external hard drive. Is there a standard def receiver that controls 2 standard def t.v's??? I could have 722, 211, and then a 1receiver for my 2 standard def tv's
Would that incur an extra lease fee vs the 722, and then the 222?

Yes, you can use a 211 with EHD. You just can't switch the EHD between the 722 and 211(two different software/recording systems). The 625 is a dual TV SD receiver. Are you not wanting to hook one of your SD's to the 722? As I said before, first receiver has no lease fee. Additional ones do.

Yes. I could see my son screwing up recordings with the 722, as that is the other standard def t.v that it would be hooked up to, but I like the extra recording space that it provides.
If I go with a 722, a 211, and a standard def dual tuner, that would be an extra lease fee vs a 722 and 222? Also, if I don't like the configuration, does is cost $$$$ to change?

Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it.. I will call them now, and let you know how I make out..... It is so much better talking to them when I am informed.

Any receiver in addition to the 722 will have a lease fee. Again, I would call and discuss all options and costs, because changes later probably will cost you.

I called, and I guess that I can't get the 722 and the 222, and another receiver, because that would be more than 4 T.V's. also tried a 722, 211, and a dual tuner standard def, but that would also be more than 4 T.V's

I tried a 612, a 222 and a single receiver, but that was going to be an extra $17 per month on my bill. I don't know why so high. Maybe I will try back a little later to see if I can get anywhere.

That's what I was afraid of. Dish has a limit of four leased "tuners". The 722 and 222 having two each. BTW, we are all used to playing CSR Roulette! You could purchase your own 301 SD, single receiver...pretty cheap.

Not entirely true. I have a 722, a 622 and two 211s leased which equals 6 leased tuners. Long time customer so maybe they gave me a break.:)

That's why. You can't walk in the door with more than four.

How is the 612 for a hd dvr? Is it as good as the 722? I could go with that a 211 which then I could add the Hard drive, and 1 standard receiver for the 2 standard defs. That would leave me with 4 I believe. This sure is confusing.

OK, here is what I have found. A 612, a 211, and then a 322 for the two standard def's. I think that this should solve my problem. I guess I can add a hard drive to the 211 for another DVR. I guess that the 612 is just like the 722, but it only runs 1 T.V. Which is what I want. Only $5 more per month, for the extra box fee.
