Very glad it worked out for you. It always warms ones cockles a little when you can pass on some useful advice.

I am curious though... How well did the procedures work out for you? Did you have any additional troubles? What were your final Az/El/Sk settings, and how far were they from the dishpointer.com values?

Again, glad to have helped, and happy HD viewing.

RTCDude, thanks for the step by step instructions. I also got a dish that the elevation was stamped incorrectly. Followed your instructions and didn't get a signal. Pulled the Dish 500 off the ground, replacing with a Dish 1000.2 from Dishstore, and found the elevation on the old Dish was 9 degrees higher than it should be. Moved the elevation up on the Dish 1000.2 and signal immediately came in at 67 on 119/13. Pulled the foil off 110 and 129 and tweaked it from there. Again, for those who don't do this often or at all, the advice is appreciated. By the way, dishpointer.com was very helpful by showing the AZ direction with a picture of the property and satellite path using landmarks on the property. I knew I needed to point the dish through the last 3rd of a tree that was off in the distance.

I tried to get the dish alighned using the described procedure and got no where. I knew buy coveing with foil where 110 was and 129 was but I could not get 119. I spilt the difference between the teo and searched in small increments (0.5-1.0 deg on azi and ele) but no luck.

I was using the receiver box and the signal strenght meter set on 119 tr 1.

I called the installer and he ended up with the dish right where I thought it needed to be.

Do you need to run check switch before the signal will show? What did I do wrong ?

Glad I could pass on some help; you made my day. It's nice to hear about another mis-stamped dish, as I got a LOT of skepticism that what I was saying "couldn't possibly be true".

Yes, you should run a switch check before starting to align a 1000.2 (to make sure the receiver will be able to see the dish LNBs) and after the alignment is all done (so that the receiver will see all of the LNBs). However, transponder #1 is currently unused and has NO signal on it, so you'd never see any signal. Transponder #3 and #5 seem to have the strongest signal on 119; try them. Hope this helps.

My apologies for leaving these details out of my original post.
