Headed to Pompano Beach / Ft Lauderdale / Palm Beach,FL... 4/17 - 4/30....... Can't wait 4 sun, fun, beach, and beer........Not to mention, checking out all the half-naked women on the beaches............How 'bout you?

Outer Banks, NC in early summer with a bunch of familia.

The wife and I are also thinking about an open road drive across country via Route 66, taking in as many Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives along the way...

No big vacation this year, not that we ever do it up big. We will probably just take a few short 2-3 day trips close to home, probably on weekends, we both work and its hard to schedule time off for both at the same time because of the nature of our work.

Aruba. Two weeks every year...either in June or September.

Because of the Economy we had to change our plans.

We were going to DisneyWorld to see Mickey. But now I'm taking the kids to the city dump so they can look at rats.

We were going to Sea World as well. But now I'm taking them down to the ocean to see if we can find a beached whale.

We were going to a MLB game. Now I'm taking them to a little league game.

We were going to The Dollywood Theme Park . Now I'm taking them to a Dairy Farm so they can see how milk is made.

Taking son and his wife and the grand kids (1st time) to Disney World next month.

A greatplace called Portabackyardia...Its a great place and the the rates are great!!!

We are holding back this year with the economy and to prep $$$ for some future home remodeling, though we will have a long weekend up north this summer.

Had planned on taking another river cruise this year, but was dismayed to learn that both of the lines that we have previously used (Delta Queen Steamboats and The Riverbarge Co.) are both out of business due to the rotten economy. So as of now will just spend a few days on Kelleys Island in western Lake Erie.

This year will be taking a week off at Christmas and probably head to Michigan to see family, saving the other week to use next year to take 21 days off to do an across country so that my daughter can see the Dakota's and Montana out to Seattle. One of the big things that has to happen soon is for her to see the remaining glaciers in Glacier national park in Montana before they fully melt off. If we dont get to do it next year it will definitely be the year after.

Our 20th wedding anniversary is coming up. Years ago, we thought we'd go overseas to celebrate. Well, that ain't gonna happen. We're trying to scrape together enough money to redo the kitchen next year. Might look at a refinance to do this, especially since we're hearing a lot about inflation kicking in down the road. But why take a risk when one of us could lose our job and we'd likely have to move?

Anyway, back on topic: We then thought we'd just pop up to Philly and eat a fancy meal at Morimoto's.

Then she decided we needed to do more, and scoured the county for someplace. Picked San Francisco. Then changed her mind, and we're taking the autotrain to FL, and driving the rest of the way to Key West.

So it's a fairly big vacation this year. Maybe none next year, as last. We have an RV we go to some weekends. We can use it where it's stored, so no need to pay for fuel to travel.

More than you wanted to know? :D

I haven't had a "real" vacation since 2001 when I spent 2 wonderful weeks in Hawaii. Since then, nothing beyond a long weekend, which for me doesn't cut it.

I've had 2 "volunteer" vacations involving my religious group, but that is work, not rest and relaxation. Not that it wasn't a little enjoyable.

In another year I'd like to visit some friends in Ecuador and stop off at the Galapagos. But nothing this year.

"Backyardia" is where I've spent my last 7 yrs. since our last real vacation. I've got a great deck with a Jenn-air grill and a suitable sound system, with plenty of cold beer just a cooler away.:)

Why not? Millions of people pick Detroit as their "destination" for the summer! I should mention that all these people are from Detroit, though. When you got no money, the BIG D is the place to be! Seriously Tom, you're welcome to come anytime. It really is a nice deck, and the cooler is always full!

And only 5 hours away. Hell I drove 3 hours to Columbus one day just to go to a Waffle House.:hungry:
