Oh No... They Didn't...

They had a site where they called DirecTV an azzhole, but this one is more mature.

They also didn't factor in the DVR fees (one per house for Direct and one per receiver for Dish).

Most of the points seem fair (although one-sided, but that's kind of the point of advertising). Where Dish has been losing a lot of customers lately is Dish Network's un-explainable refusal to lease more than 4 TVs worth of receivers. Many years ago this was fine, because only a few people had more than 4 TVs in their home, but with the low cost of "Wal-Mart" quality TVs, many people even on lower incomes have 5 - 8 TVs in their homes.

I bet most homes have 1 (or 0) DVRs. Fair enough for Dish not to count it.

They have the Directv packages one line up too far. The difference is $3/mo, $2/mo, $2/mo.

That's $36, $24, $24, Annually.

You can make the argument Choice matches better with Classic 200 (and Choice Xtra with Classic 250), but then you have to point out that DirecTV has no comparable entry level pack. Big deal in these economic times.

Puh-lease... you obviously haven't seen the U-verse ads. They are beating up cable with their whole home DVR nonsense--despite the fact that they can only do four streams (not even TV's)--period. Don't even get me started on their SD.

This is pretty mild. Dish and Direct both make me laugh claiming to be the HD leader when Verizon and AT&T both have them beat on channel counts.

National??

The Verizion & AT&T are not national. If fios was then it would be a horse race. I would love to see Verizon fios national then I might go w/ them and get both vid and I-net from them.

AT&T is national to me. I ain't in Quest territory. There are plenty of people that can't Dish or Direct. So they could arguably be non-national as well.

Most homes I've seen have 0-1 DVR's (leaning towards 0). I know quite a few folks w/ HD and no DVR's.

+1. I'd love Fios, but it isn't available in my entire state. And as your (allargon) own post indicates, AT&T stinks.

New dumbest thing I've read on SatGuys.

Who can't get Dish or Direct? Yes, people have LOS issues and landlords/HOAs to deal with, but the signal is still everywhere.

No provider can be national "to you" just because you can get it. HUGE areas can't get Fios or AT&T.

I'd lump TWC, Comcast, et. al. and say "cable" is pretty well available nationally.

I'd like to see actual statistics. Most people tend to believe that most people are exactly like them (regardless of whether their situation is typical or not). :D

I myself have never been in a house with more than 4 TVs in my entire life.

I have five, and I find it excessive--especially considering I had four (upgraded the two SD sets to HD and moved the two tubes to other rooms) when I was single before my fiance' moved in. Most families I've seen tend to have 3--one in the master, one in the family room and one other location.

My house has 4 HD TVs and 3 more SD TVs. And that is just for my girlfriend and myself. If I had kids there would be more. I don't watch TV unless it is from a DVR. I always want the ability to pause/rewind not to mention the fact that I want the option of other shows recorded as well. Because of that I really need to get rid of my 322, can't remember the last time it was on. I have 3 regular DVRs and a 211k that works as a DVR. So to me the point of 1 vs multiple DVR fees is very relevant ;)

By your standard, the only two national Pay TV providers are Dish Network and DirecTV...Comcast, Time-Warner, etc need not be considered.

What about my grandmother who lives in a condo and has no "rights of use" to any outside areas in order to mount a satellite dish...my brother who is surrounded by 200 year old trees (with historical value) that neither he nor the city are about to chop down to obtain a clear view of the souther sky...and my mother who doesn't like the way a dish looks on her property since it is not aesthetically pleasing? Dish Network and DirecTV are not national providers since they are not nationally available.

Sorry, I don't buy that...Verizon FiOS is widely available at my homes in Virginia and Texas. AT&T Uverse is widely available in Texas and, very soon, at my parents home in Michigan. Verizon and AT&T will most likely be the nations 3rd and 4th largest cable TV providers by 2012.

Anyway, Dish Network can continue to make comparisons against DirecTV...but they are getting blindsided by FiOS TV and U-Verse in the process. After adding six new HD channels a few weeks ago, Verizon is adding another six HD channels to FiOS TV lineup during June which will bring their total up to 116 national uncompromised HD channels (not including the 10 HD locals, PPVs, etc.).

And available no where in the 7th most populous state. Your point?

Fios is a threat to Dish, but not as much as you think The fact they Verizon sold rural lines shows they are not interested in expanding beyond big cities where they provide phone service.
