I have an RV and plan on taking my 222k along with me if we are in areas where local channels won't come in. Will Dish charge the monthly 5 dollar penalty for not having a phone line on the reciever even though most of the time it is connected to the phone line? This is my second reciever and the primary reciever a 722k is always connected to a phone line.

if you have dishdvradvantage it waives one dua recievers requirement for the phoneline. so your covered if your 722 is plugged in. if you dont have dda, then 5 bucks is a cheap price to pay to have access in your rv. when you get home and plug it back in the the fee will be removed. it takes like 60 days before you get the charge on your bill anyways. so you might not even have to pay if you arent out past 8 weeks.
If you have dvr advantage and locals then they will waive the second tuner fee on one dual tuner box and I don't think it has to be the dvr
Are you guys kidding me? I'm a current D* sub that will be switching over to E* once the eastern arc is available in my DMA. (Line of sight issues with D*...trees). The install would be at my cottage where I have no landline telephone. Are there provisions for E* to waive this fee at locations where there is no way to connect a phone line?
I started getting message every time I turned on the TV/DVR about not having a phone line installed. I called csr svc and explained that I do not have a landline. I ONLY use my cell phone. They did something and I am NOT getting the 5 dollar charge on either receiver.
Dvr advantage shuld have no charge for the phone if you have other recivers like a 322.222.522.625.622.722 withno phone you wull get charged the phone charge. Geting the phone line waved is hit or miss with csr . If it sounds like india or any hint of foreign accent hang up and call untill you get some one state side.
Since you would need mpeg4 receivers to use the EA dish, the second tuner charge can be waived by hooking these receivers up via a dsl connection as well. Non-mpeg4 receivers cannot use this connection. Dish will not waive the charge if you don't have a landline.

Don't mean to step on someone's post, but, what do you need for a DSL or LAN connection if you don't have a phone outlet nearby?
You can use Homelink for LAN connection to Internet elsewhere in the house. Any form of Internet connection can be used in lieu of a phone connection. Unlikely to have DSL if no phone line, me thinks, but it is possible to have naked DSL. Unlikely to have cable modem if has Sat. So how is he writing to the board? Still a $5 charge is a lot less than a phone bill. The alternative not taken was a single tuner receiver for the RV.

Just for clarification purposes, we have a 211k @the house in St Aug, FL. Next year we are taking a site in the campground we are currently in in North Carolina for the season - 6 months.Did I read it correctly that since a 211k is a single tuner receiver, no phone line connection is necessary?
I have checked all the angles for reception here and a 1000.4 dish will work on a tripod.
I have been concerned about the phone line though. The VIP622 will be remaining @home and connected via internet.

It is a charge for not having a phone connected to your dual tuner receiver. So that makes it a PHone line charge in my books. I don't see how anyone can charge for a second tuner. DIRECTV doesn't do it, neither does cable. It might be what DISH wants to politically call it but it is bull sh*t . You don't connect your phone line to your dual tuner and you get a $5.00 phone charge. It is also to prevent those who like to stack their account: share them with others for a fee. So why not call it the Stacking prevention fee? That makes as much sense as what DISH is calling it.
