Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

It is good to read that for the most part the "Free Platnium" trasnition went well this weekend and we can save a few bucks!

Chat is the way to go. Only took a few minutes to get hooked up with the Platinum HD package.

I've decided to just sit back for a week and then call in.

I was AEP but for some reason a few months ago I got changed (not by my doing but it's showing up on my bill) as Gold + Gold HD + Plat HD + Locals

I went online and it looks like I can save 20 bucks or so (depending if they auto-free platinum me) by going back to AEP.

So I'll you guys train all the CSR's ;) and then call them to do some package experimentation.

BTW: Just where is that channel with the exercising girls??? I looked near MAVTV and can't find it anywhere. :D:D

TurboHD does not qualify for the free Platinum channels, but I am not going to change my package to get it either because for the extra $20 I would have to pay, I can add two premiums (IMO that is better than Platinum HD).

I have two questions that I need help with

1. I am a Turbo HD Silver subscriber. Can I call up and get Platinum upgrade?
Some people are saying yes, some no and others are saying dish changed there package on them.

2. My account currently reads:
TurboHD Silver with DVR 49.99
(I have local channels but it does not show up on the bill)

Fees 7.00 (rental of the box)
TOTAL $56.99

Website says If I switch to:
Classic Silver 200 with DVR $57.99
Fees $7.00
TOTAL $64.99

So for $8.00 more I get something like 11-15 more hd channels not to mention the sd channels?

Am I reading this correctly?

It would be $18.00 more. You forgot the $10.00 HD add on for Classic Silver. Remember, you will get all the CD and Sirius music channels.

No Its $57.99 for Classic Silver with Locals and DVR
and $10 for HD with Platinum.
$67.99
+ $7 for your addtional receiver
$74.99. Your price went up $13 and you'll get much more programming including HD platinum

Unless they just lowered it, Silver with locals is $57.99. Looking at my bill right now.

I agree, using my own personal count, I counted about 91 HD Channels.

I have AEP
I counted my locals and channels such as MTV and such, that dont show HD all the time

Just switched over to the new package via online chat. Took 5 minutes. Looking forward to a $120/year savings!

Go Satelliteguys!!!! :up :up :up

I would suggest that everyone check their account online after any upgrades to Platinum HD. I made the change yesterday from Turbo Gold to what I thought would be Turbo Gold + Platinum HD. I made it very clear to the CSR that I only wanted the upgrade if there would be no additional cost to me. I was assured that there would be no additional charges.

After viewing my bill on line I noticed that I had been upgraded to Classic Gold 250 which resulted in a $18 per month increase. I called Dish Network this morning and was told that the CSR who advised me that there would be no additional charge was incorrect. I was given a $18 credit on my bill for two months. If this is not sorted out by then Direct TV may have a new customer.

I was given an email address feedback@customermail.dishnetwork.com where I can voice my frustrations. I will definitely send my comments along with the saved chat session that clearly states that I can upgrade to Platinum HD at no additional cost. Could it possibly be that difficult for everyone to get on the same page regarding this upgrade?

My online chat rep was helpful, handled the switch quickly and called me a, "wonderful dish family customer." :D One of the easier issues I've ever handled with Dish customer service.

I am ready to re-commit with the loyalty Programming Rewards. Also want to add Platinum. Either one I should do first, or does it matter?

Is anyone having problems with changing programming in their online account? When I pick one of the "American" packages (i.e., Classic Gold) and then click on the tab for "HD Channels", nothing appears. So its not letting me select HD programming.

I remember a good while back while I was on the phone with them and we were waiting for something to activate or waiting on the system they would ask me how the weather was in my area to try to avoid the silence and to be friendly. I remember them asking that once in a while if I talked to them on the phone.
