tiger woods in car crash

I haven't been scrutinizing this, and I won't be, but I thought I read that the fire hydrant was on his property, so if his vehicle was on his property and backed into the fire hydrant without his having driven onto a public roadway, and if he then gunned it in forward and hit a neighbor's tree, but if that was his next door neighbor, then no matter how recklessly he may have operated the vehicle, it wouldn't be subject to the motor vehicle operation statutes that only apply to the operation of a motor vehicle on a public way.

update at espn.com, seems tiger and the wife were unavailable for the fhp again today. and he also posted a brief statement on his website saying the crash was his fault.

Well they have plenty of time to get thier stories straight then.

AntAltMike made a very interesting point, if he was on HIS property and not on a road .....

I find it funny that he said it was his fault ....
Who else's fault would it be, he was the one driving ? (or trying to drive)

I remember when a football player's wife was suing him for divorce - claiming he often beat the crap out of her - and demanding millions out of his future earnings, but then the team said if that was true, he had violated the morals clause of his contract and they didn't owe him that money, at which time she stopped pursuing her assualt and battery complaints.

Even if Tiger's wife did go ballistic and attack him and the car, by now she realizes that she risks killing the golden goose...

I have a hard time believing that Tiger couldn't stop the attack by his smaller and weaker wife. He must have been out of it or something.

She probably just slapped him accross the mouth and he left , got in the caddy, she grabbed a club chased smashing the back window and he floored it and ran into a tree. It happened at 2am probably when he returned from his mistress.

Wow, Canceled an interview again. This stinks to high heaven now. What's he hiding?

Why does he have to be hiding anything? He is only has to show them drivers licenses, proof of insurance and registration. Anything else is just the cops trying to pry information that is not needed.

The tiger "machine" is trying to get all the stories straight....He is insulated by all his handlers, and in this case his handlers were not there at 2 AM

I think if you are I hit a tree at 2:00 AM, we would not get time to blow of interviews, sounds like it was a bit more then a fender bender

So instead they tell the FHP to come back not once but twice, wasting the time and resources of the Police.

I don't remember seeing that they have ever agreed to talk to the police. If that is the case they are not wasting the police resources. The police keep going to try to get them to talk. Now if they said to come at a certain time that is a different story on the wasting time.

And why is the FHP so interested in someone that hit a firehydrant and a tree? They barely gave a crap when I was running 40 mph OVER the speed limit when I got a ticket 5 years ago...and that is ALOT worse what Woods did.

A fire hydrant is considered public property. Additionally, are you telling me that if I drove my vehicle (under the influence of alcohol and painkillers no less) for quarter-mile at a high rate of speed across my neighbors yards, that I could not be charged with any motor vehicle violations simply because I was not on a "public way"? Perhaps if I had written permission from every one of my neighbors, but since this was not the case with Tiger Woods (his neighbor called 911), then he would be subject to motor vehicle laws.

For you who think Tiger has nothing to worry about, think again. Tiger has hired prominent Criminal Defense Lawyer Mark NeJame. He's well known in the Orlando area. NeJame's former clients include Lou Pearlman, Jesse Maali, and Casey Anthony's parents. He's known at the Johnny Cochran of Orlando. Something is up.

It is public property, so the public can seek financial redress for negligent damage to it. I knocked over a road sign once, and the state public works department billed me for the repair (believe it or not, it was located directly in front of a state public works shed, so I just walked in the door and reported it before driving away), but no motor vehicle violation was written.

Over the years, I have had occasion to look up various motor vehicle laws when representing myself, and all of them were limited to the operation of vehicles on public ways.

The neighbor has civil redress available if their tree or yard were damaged, they can claim that their property was tresspassed upon, and I suppose there may be a non-motor vehicle ordinance or statute regarding generally conducting one's self in a reckless or endangering manner (though I don't know of any such law) but they would not be motor vehicle law violations.

Maybe it's for his possible divorce and NOT something going on....
