I live in Louisville, KY. 5 years ago I set up an attic antenna to get OTA locals in HD. I pay for DISH locals for the guide and backup on a (now) 722 and have always received them in SD. Lately I realized DISH now offers Louisville locals in HD. I talked to L1 and L2 Tech Support and they can't figure out why I'm not receiving satellite locals in HD. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Your HD locals are on the 77W satellite and your SD locals are on the 110W satellite. It sounds like maybe you have a western arc dish when you really need an eastern arc dish. I find it hard to believe that level 1 and 2 couldn't figure that out.

Right on!

Unbelievable!! I"m on the wrong dish!! Yes, those fine tech support folks, even at L2, never asked about what satellites I was pointed to. A local service tech is scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully he can fix. Thanks for your prompt responses.

I just realized the same thing a few weeks ago. I called Dish and asked why I didn't get them, and they told me I needed to be on the Eastern Arc. They sent HPTS out and installed a Dish 1000.4 for free. Comes with 3 feeds capable of 2 tuners per. Now I can watch one local and record another of the antenna. Legacy receivers will not work on the EA (Mpeg4 only). I had to get rid of a 508 and bought a 211k, which is ok as I think I might go HD only to save some $.

HPTS guy was just here. Turns out I don't need a changeout from 1000.2 dish to 1000.4 and complete change to Eastern Arc. I can just add a wing dish pointed to 77W satellite and get my Louisville HD locals without need to replace two older receivers with VIP's and their higher monthly fees than what I have now.

In about 5 days the fees for SD receivers will be the same as fees for HD receivers, it all depends on th enumber of outputs and if they are a DVR or not.

So, I just upgraded my DP301 to a ViP211.
