From what I understand the answer is NO! Not after feb. 1 and not 6 months from now.

"With DISH, there is no monthly fee for your first receiver which, in some cases, may operate two TVs. For each additional receiver beyond the first, we have combined what was previously up to three separate fees per receiver, into one fee per receiver. To give you the best pricing if you have multiple receivers, we will always consider the receiver with the highest monthly fee as your first."

What am I missing? I had to post because it seem some are saying primary receivers that are Duos will incur a $5 TV2 fee when Dish no longer has such a fee.

So what you're saying is that if you only have one receiver, you won't be seeing the $5 fee that used to be there if you didn't have a phone or ethernet connection to your receiver? I've been a bit confused on this one.

There is no big ass equipment fee for your primary receiver now though. I like how there is no worry about the primary receiver right now. You can get a single or dual tuner receiver for no extra cost to your monthly bill.

TY for clearing THAT up! The calculator http://www.satelliteguys.us/calc.htm is nifty but confounded the issue for me.

I just tried the calculator for the third time and it is way off for my account. It says that I should have been paying 122.94 where I have been paying 105.98. So there's a difference of 16.96. Which using the new numbers 125.99 - 16.96 (?) = 109.03 a change of 3.05 that the calculator was correct on. In this scenario, my bill, without subtracting the 16.96 will be an increase of 20.01. With the subtraction, 3.05. I'm hoping for the 3.05. I'll find out at the end of the month.

Well yeah your right, but as a standalone fee the answer is no. :)

So instead of clearly showing what DISH is screwing you for , they just roll it all up into one equipment fee at an outrageous price. And all the fees are "just because we can " charge for them made up fees in the first place that not even Directv has. Directv still charges $5.00 for additional receivers.

Yep you hit it on the head! Thaey say they are rolling them into one, but there never was another charge for the 2nd tuner on a dual tuner box. And on the dvr's they are 3.00 more than the standard boxes. I think that is to make up for the loss of having a dvr fee per box. I asked them about this and they said this is the way everyone is doing it. I don't even know why they have the dual tuner box if they are going to charge for 2 tuners, I would rather have 2 seperate boxes so they are both hidef feeds. Just my 2 cents.

I agree that there should be some kind of discount on Duo tuners rather than the price of two tuners. It is more difficult in my opinion to get the best possible picture on TV 2 unless you run cables all around the house. My picture is good on TV 2, but it could be better if it was directly plugged into the receiver. With a standalone box, it would be much easier to hook up directly to the TV. However, I did notice now that it is 1 HD DVR and 2 HD receivers free with a 2-year agreement for new customers or at least that is how I understand it. We did not want a DVR; so, I could not have got an additional HD receiver. A $6.00 DVR fee would not have helped the bill either. Under FAQ on the website, Dish has that a Duo receiver is $10 and a solo DVR is $14. Unfortunately, it is a mistake...I would have rathered $10 instead of $14.

I cant imagine ANYONE not wanting a DVR. Heck no of us here want to watch TV live, except sports.

If I could I would buy a digital Audio recorder for my vehicle. HEY WHAT DID HE SAY??

bruce williams during the day:)

Why be forced to conform to the stations schgedue when I can make my own:)

Satellite Radio has a devices that allow time shifting their shows. There is one device I know of for terrestrial radio that gets close. It needs a PC to do the recording, so it's basically a USB radio antenna and AM/FM tuner that uses the PC dump the sound out. Griffin Technology: radio SHARK 2 - AM/FM Radio Recorder I suppose you could set it up in your house to record a show, then grab a MP3 to listen to in the car.
