Returning a Receiver to DISH - Remotes, too?

Apologies for 2 threads on similar subjects, but there is a specifically different issue here...

When making an equipment return to DISH, are remotes also required to be returned with receivers? I've gotten 2 different answers from 2 different CSRs regarding this. I returned receivers to DISH about 8 years ago (after cancelling service THAT time) and I'm pretty certain I was NOT required to return remotes - or cables, etc -- that accompanied the receiver originally. So, now, one CSR says to return the remotes and the other says its not necessary. Which is it?

I just returned a receiver to Dish (2 days ago) and the instructions specifically stated I was to include the remotes. Be sure to remove the batteries.

Yep, I also returned a receiver about 3 weeks ago, and the return documentation specifically mentioned returning the remote and removing the batteries as the previous poster mentioned. I don't know if they would come after you if you don't send it back, but I certainly know they ask for it. Why would you want to keep it anyways?? Backup?
 
That is interesting. I wonder if that is new? When I upgraded my 942 and my 622 I was told by the CSR that I could keep the remotes. I was never charged anything and it gave me a couple of spare TV2 remotes. :)
 
That's Dish for you! 100 different answers just for 1 question!

While I'm usually with you on this, there is simply one answer to this question. Dish asks you to return the remotes, plain and simple. Whether they would go after you for not returning them is anyone's guess. My thought would be they'd just hit your card on file for whatever the price of the remote is. In Dish's eyes, it'll probably cost around $150. ;)
 
It was to my understanding that the remotes needed to be returned also. I'm not sure if they would make a big deal about it if you didn't though.
 
The instructions do say to return the remote but you really do not need to because all they do with returned remotes is toss them in the trash.
 
Receivers and remote control. But, people have been saying you have to climb up to grab the LNB, but you can always argue back claiming the Dish installer intended to install the dish high without my approval. If you experience a nice staff, they will say OK, no need.

Yeah, they definitely ask for the LNB too...I didn't have to do that since the receiver I was sending back was from an MDU I had previously lived at. I want to say that on the packing instructions where they ask you to return the LNB, that they ask you to do so if it is reasonable to do so. 85 year old grandma isn't going on the roof to fetch her LNB. But I may be mistaken, as I obviously didn't pay close attention to the LNB instructions since it didn't pertain to my situation.
 
Got my box today and packing instructions -- and as many have stated here, the instructions say to return the remotes, too. So, I'll return them:rant:
 
Make sure to sneeze on them. I wonder if they add new buttons and a new case and reuse the insides of the ones that are in great condition. My buttons are fading after just 5 months...

When did the LNB return policy took effect?

When I got Dish many many years ago, I confirm I only need to mail the receivers and remote back. I asked them about the Dish and parts and they said "no need".

When returning a receiver that is replaced under dish home protection I have never sent in the remotes, of course they didn't send new ones either! I imagine that if you are canceling service they would want all of "their equipment" back. Unless you trashed your remotes for some after market remote why would you care about the dish remotes anyway? I have been back and forth from dish to cable and back again and did not have to send in the LNB, I think on principal I would suggest if they wanted the LNB they could send someone out to go on my roof and get it.
