i have 61.5/72.7/77/110 now, would i have to switch dishes or would they just leave this one if i switch to Latino max. Did not know that had all the English less the few you mentioned, would miss msnbc but that would be $10 less than 250 plus $15 less for the Latino bonus pack i have now. Does max have the Dominican channel and the others from other countries?

Dish Latino Max has all the Spanish channels that dish carries, you can check that out at dishnetwork.com and choosing latino or spanish packages.

There are other missing English channels that I did not mention, such as SoapNet, and some others.

Best is to make a list of every channel you would miss if you did not have it, and then go to:

http:dishchannelchart.com

and see if the channel has the DL symbol next to it. That page also tells you which satellite slots have the channel, so you can see whether you will need 119. Most spanish language channels are on 110, though.

ok, thanks. quick question, food network says it is on 72 and 119 but only 119 has dl next to it, does that mean I would not be able to pick it up with 72 in the DL package?

actually the hd version is on 61.5/129 and also on 110 lol

After the new channels were turned on I called Dish on the phone the old fashioned way and when the recording asked what what they can help me about I said "Tech Support".

I calmly went through what has just happened and mentioned this site as my source (thanks Scott) and I am about to get upgraded to EA on Friday morning for FREE and with NO CONTRACTUAL OBLIBATIONS!!

So now they will take away my old 500 and the 300 that looks at 61.5 and give me a 1000.4 set-up for nothing.

I am considered a "top customer" and have auto pay and paperless billing and still get Cinemax for a year for a penny. They must like me. If you are in this "in crowd", I'll bet you can get the same deal as I did.

Call away friends! :)

Nice to hear Dish is making this right for you!

thanks for the information kstu.

I'll see what 72 loses and what 129 buys at dishuser.org and check out the sitelines for 129. They seem to be putting up nothing but 61.5 dishes in my area for HD so I'm a bit weary about the 129's low sightline since locals weren't part of the decision behind the installers choosing the 61.5.

Use the Link in my signature, it will take you to the channel charts in near real-time. TheList data is updated anytime there are changes even the times where a report is not needed.

Thanks for the tip, I'm stoked to have FSC HD coming in, soon. I just asked a CSR to switch me to Latino Max HD. Cheers!

So what are the new channel numbers?

I hope this helps you....
114 E! HD
135 BBC America HD
149 Fox Soccer Channel HD
185 Hallmark HD
204 Tru TV HD
285 Sportsman Channel
319 Showtime West HD
363 Indieplex HD
365 Retroplex HD

There seem to be some temporary Olympic channels:
550 Olympic 1
551 Olympic 2
552 Olympic 3

Of course FCC currently closed due to snow......more delays...

They should just go ahead and move it. While the FCC has been known to carry out the occasional act of piracy on the high seas, I don't think they're equipped to deal with a rogue satellite.

I bit my tongue, glad someone said it.... :p

And someone answered it.... I guess it could have been worse by quoting the entire uplink report(like some people do), then asking that question.

I figured this thread would be up to 4 or 5 pages by now... only on page 2 so far ;)

You have to very careful when using that list for National HD channels, because there are separate channel numbers for Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico spot beams that will not work for you.

The Dish Latino national HD channels are 5300- 5405.

Another factor is which satellite has your locals and your Regional Sports channels.

BTW, the satellite slot is not a factor for anyone with a "Dish1000" or "Dish1000.2" which gets 110, 119 and 129 - they only need to be aware of some English channels they will lose with Dish Latino.

PS Referring to someone's earlier post, you only get the free Playboy Latino activated if you ask for it - by default, they do not activate it in order to prevent complaints from those with kids.

Yea, well, it's not even clear what they expect to do with that sat once it's moved. It might be logical to assume they will use it to carry National HD for people with 61.5 dishes but I wouldn't put it past them to, say, use it for locals only. They might be planning to move all national HD, eventually, to 129 and 72.7 (or is that 77?).

Point is, there's no telling how long it will be before those of us with 61.5s will be able to see new National HD. If you're going to stick with Dish might just as well get a new, well..... dish.

Villa-ManU is 16x9 upconverted from 576i, just like the ESPN2-HD broadcasts of 10am matches.

Just as with those, it looks very close to HD, but is 576.

It's an interesting question as to whether the "map down" will work for a timer that existed prior to the map down...

I noticed this too. I'm happy with the 16x9 format and can't wait to see a match in true HD.

I am finding that site very confusing, so hopefully you don't mind me asking. These are the hd channels that seem not to be included.
bet hd, bio hd, cbs college sports, golf, hallmark movie, lifetime movie, msnbc, green, science, nfl, spike, tennis and versus. That is from chceking one list, the one with the logos on the package page for dish latino max shows spike.

Spike, nfl, science, msnbc and green are the only ones of those we really care about, and could live without all those but spike since my little brother will have a fit if he can't watch ufc. Also FSC, which you said you got and BBCA-hd. Did you get all the new hd channels? And do hbo, showtime and starz get all the same hd channels?
Thanks for your help.

Simply switching to an EA dish wouldn't do the trick for me. They'd have to install an oversized dish for 61.5, or I wouldn't have any locals. I know that either Dish or the local retailer has put up a few oversized ones lately for 119/110/61.5 customers who have complained about the spotbeam problem, but I imagine that extra expense would be involved with an EA dish, since you'd need to install some sort of switch (I have only one receiver, hence no switch) since the three LNBs on an EA dish are all one unit, aren't they?

Spike HD is in the Latino HD package, channel 5303. HBO, Showtime and Starz are all premium channels so they just are in the 300 range for the premium channels.

You're correct, "bet hd, bio hd, cbs college sports, golf, hallmark movie, lifetime movie, msnbc, green, science, nfl, spike, tennis and versus" are NOT in the Latino HD package. Today we got FSC HD, BBCA HD, E! HD, Hallmark HD, Indie HD and Retro HD. The last two are in the Platinum package.

How are you getting your locals now, do you have an oversized 61.5? How about non-EA; i.e. 1000.2 = 110/119/129 and your existing 61.5 dish?

yeah i don't get the 5000 range, does that mean i would need a new dish or will they just keep the one i have since i already get all those channels? I get the hundreds and the 9000s.
