On Line ID

Before I go calling can anyone tell me what this on line ID thing is? I've been logging on to dish with my e-mail and a password since day one. Now, if I want to access my account info they are asking for on on line ID. I tried to set one up and the system says I have one. I tried using the lost/forgot screen and the system tells me info is missing (it asks for phone number and zip) I do know both they as they have been the same for almost 20 years! Sometimes I get a error message that says there is more than one account with the same info.
Given that CSR's are usually not allowed to think but to just read a script from a computer screen I would like to know what this on line ID thing is about and has anyone else had access to the site screwed up?

Well this went well! Logged on to chat and asked the question. The CSR asked if I had another e-mail address i could use. Provided that and voila all is OK didn't ask if I could change back, but I can log on now and I even have full access to the remote access app. Now for the 64K question what will they do for me about the new HD Channels! We shall see!
