I have a VGA port on my laptop and HDTV, and want to connect them so I can watch HD feeds on my TV. I figure this is a better option than buying EI for Cable, since it doesn't have HD feeds.

But a question to anyone who has done this. How is the quality when converted from laptop to tv? Is it close to a regular a HD picture?

Thanks guys

EDIT: not sure why I put "regular" tv in the topic, but yeah.. my tv is HD.

Forget about the whole laptop, computer hookup and get a Roku box. You can get access to MLBTV, Netflix, and a whole bunch of other internet content on this little device. You won't regret it.

This is nice except for one small minor problem.
The MLB stuff cost money (as expected) when I went to the sight to investigate about the product, I am required to SIGN UP before I can find out HOW MUCH any of this stuff is.
So as a casual observer that could possibly use this product, I will never know how much it cost as I am not signing up for something that I cannot find a price of other info about ahead of time.
Don't know why sites do this type of thing, but it's not for me.

The cost of the subscription is the same as online $119.95 for the premium package. I have choose to forgo MLBEI this year with Directv @ $191.94 and will do MLB.tv instead for $119.99.

I personally could not see doing that type of thing.
I have never had MBL EI , always considered, but never bit.

I have a nice 22" monitor but cannot see me watching games on the monitor when I could turn around and watch it on my 60" Pioneer Elite instead.
IF you got BOTH for that price, or the EI price, I could see that.

When you sign up for the NFL ST you get the TV version as well as the Computer version.

You don't have to sign up twice. I don't understand why you think that. You sign up online, like everyone else. When you go to access the games, for the first time on the Roku box, you'll get a code number. You simply enter that code number on the website one time only and you can then watch the games on your TV through the Roku box. Couldn't be simpler.

mlb.tv also has nothing to do with MLB Extra Innings. You get mlb.tv from mlb.com,whereas you get MLB EI from D* or your cable provider(if they carry it). Its just like NHL Center Ice from your satellite or cable provider & NHL Gamecenter Live from nhl.com(which unfortunately isn't carried by Roku).

what he's saying though, is why can't you get MLB.tv free when you get mlb ei? you do with NBA LP and NFL ST

My thoughts exactly on the Roku. I heard it was definitely nice to watch it on the Roku with their features and such.

You can order the Roku box from Amazon.

Yes. It all works. Goto Roku.com for more info. Roku supports Netflix, mlb, amazon vod, pandora, and many more.

There is a special link on mlb.com that will link your Roku to your mlb account.

I havent used it for mlb but we use ours for netflix streaming and revision3 mostly. I have 2 rokus since they work so well. The roku is also wireless or wired..your choice.

Now that the season is over, how'd it work out for you? I know it's early, but next year I might think about mlb.tv using my PS3 to stream to my tv.
