Have 110/119 and 61.5 in Florida Should i pay to upgrade to 1000.4 ?

Also will the new dish use the same mounting holes ? And are support struts needed for the new dish ?

Hi, I would think it would depend on if you get your locals from Dish or have a OTA antenna. Florida is very flat and has excellent coverage for OTA so you might be using it. You might be able to re-point the wing dish that was on 61.5 and move it to 129. The 1000.4 dishes that I have seen do have support struts and because the dish is larger and uses a longer support arm I would think you would want to have them installed. BTW - I do not know what satellite your locals would come from if you use Dish for your locals but you could simply hit menu - 6-1-1 on the remote after watching your locals and you will be able to find out what satellite and TP was in use. If it's 110 or 119 the re-point to 129 could still work. Hope this helps, DC

I would have it installed. You may or may not be charged for it. I still don't know what I'll get charged for it, though the CSR that i spoke with when I placed the original order said it would be free. Probably, your best tactic is to tell them you're not getting the new HD channels, and need an upgrade to EA.

I recently had the 1000.4 installed, replacing my 110/119 & 61.6 setup. Installer used the mounting bracket on the roof for the 61.5 to install the 1000.4 (I can't tell if it's the same mast). He did install two struts. All the wind & rain we had in NJ last weekend, and I didn't lose signal...

I'm sorry to say but struts are a necessity. If you don't put them on it may work but the mast will sag because of the heaver dish which will cause your signals to be lower.

I installed my eastern arc dish and have had it for two years this summer and I haven't seen any sag on my fence pole in quick-crete. This dish isn't that much bigger than the 1000.2 sat dish I still have next door on the other fence pole. Now if you install it on a roof , you might need the struts. But I never use roof installs . I like them on a pole I can service as needed and change if need be. My neighbor a few houses down had his 1000.4 sat dish installed by DISH on a fence pole like I did. NO struts.

Oh and my signals are great ! Haven't seen any drop of signal , except in rain. In fact I check them some days to see if they change , as I have them recorded on a notebook , and I have seen some of the transponders go up in strength .

77 sat - 50- 58
72.7 sat - 60 - 70
61.5 sat - 45 - 70
