Something weird is going on and Im curious if any updates or what not could have caused it.

Out of the blue my 722k now states "Signal Lost.... 129, transponder 31"
I have an EA with a wing dish on 129 (So I'm not sure why all my channels are relying on 129 when I should only be using 129 for locals)

this just started today, and it happens once a minute.

If I hit guide the show continues where it left off

Any suggestions before I call Dish Network. They're on my #@)$@# list and I'm not fond of wasting my time with their "customer service" department.

Thanks

Move to the EHD

If you have an EHD better move what's on the HDD asap. It sounds like the sat tuners maybe be going bad. It's also possible that only the switch outside is going bad or the LNB to 129 is having a problem. 1st try checking the connections at the LNB & the switch to see if there are corrosion problems. If nothing wrong there then it probably time for service call. What Laddyboy said is also true as well I've seen that in the past as well.

I dunno because I am getting the same thing here on my 222k which is only 3 months old. It's only on 129, the other sats are a little lower but still locked in. Did this last night as well almost around the same time. This an Ohio thing going on somewhere?

This weekend, my 222k this weekend also lost signal, its being doing that JUST for the hd channels. It has happened twice last week. I also have 129 sat. I live in southern California though...

A lot of the HD's are on 129. When it does go out hit your info button twice and note the sat number in the top-ish left corner. Very few HD's are on other sats last I recall (USA is one of them, it sits on 110)

If it keeps doing it constantly, i would call, but if it happens like once a week, or twice, maybe you should wait a month and see what happens since they are doing all this re-organizing...

My 722k has already done this half a dozen times tonight. Very aggravating. Just like you, I press the DVR button, and the picture comes right back.

sounds like your dish needs repointing, either that or there is something blocking the line of sight.. you should check your signal strengths and post them up here. If you were losing 129 entirely i would suspect a bad switch or integrated lnb. Check the easiest things first.. LOS, loose connectors, damaged lines. My guess for most of you guys is just need a quick dish repoint. The signal from 129 is the weakest of the 3 so it is easy to get it out of point.

happens to my 722 about once a month. no issues with my dish-unplugging the receiver for a minute fixes it (on mine).

It is a problem in the firmware. You are not really losing signal on 129 but the receiver thinks it is. It is related to having OTA hooked up. There are quite a few threads here on the problem.

if pressing DVR or GUIDE brings the pix back, check your OTA!!! Loss of lock on an OTA channel will cause this... Tune the OTA to a strong signal & leave it there while watching sat. This is the season of changing weather & atmospheric 'ducting' which will bring in distant OTA signals, sometimes on the same freq as a local, causing interference... this causes it too...

it's easier to fix on the 622 'cause i've only got one OTA tuner & usually when mine does it, the PIP source is set to OTA, do a swap & change to a SAT tuner & it won't happen again until the correct # of things happen & the PIP gets set back to OTA...

quick question... I'm not watching an OTA channel.. I'm watching HD Bravo or Hallmark or a pay channel. I rarely watch OTA... maybe just disconnect my OTA to fix?

nope

That is what is happening is you are loosing the OTA signal. If you disconnect the OTA then it will have constant signal loss of OTA meaning will have constant loss of signal problem. You would have to remove all the OTA's from you unit if this the problem. It's better to fix the problem that is causing the OTA signal loss.

wow... who programmed that monstrocity. I would have the box only focus on the signal that's currently in use. So if Im watching channel 5 and it relies soley on signal XYZ, I shouldn't get that message if signal ABC goes out.

Thanks, I'll get rid of my OTA... I rarely every use it anyway.

Deleting all your OTA channels in Menu-6-9 will fix it. Disconnecting the antenna will not.

Or, if you want to keep your OTA, go to Menu-6-9 and select the channel with the highest and most consistent signal strength. Then scroll right to the "Done" button (NOT Cancel) and press Select. Problem solved.

very interesting. i was thinking along similar lines, like tuning to the strongest ota channel, and then back to a dish channel thus 'leaving' the ota on the strongest signal.
