I'm trying to get 125W and I think it's probably lost in the trees, but I'm on a satellite that's showing one transponder, 11885V SR 4349, with one encrypted channel named "Channel #1". Lyngsat is of no help in identifying this one.

Thanks. I got 125 now, the non-S2 channels are coming in OK, as for the S2 it could be a branch in the way or it could just be my dish is too small.

What's this transponder at 11980V SR 30000 though? It has 2 encrypted TV channels and 11 encrypted audio channels. Is it bleeding over from another satellite or is it just something that's not listed anywhere because it's not FTA?

It's kind of on Lyngsat listed as "Lifetime Real Women".
It is on 125°W and it is a DVB-S2 transponder.

It's on AMC-21 and it's part a DBS service that uses DVB-S2.

I ask this same question all the time

I ask this same question all the time, It would be really cool if satellite receivers would ID the satellite. That would be really cool when trying to put up a new dish...How many times have I wished for a new meter that included the id...

I can vaguely remember using a receiver (maybe it was a dishnetwork box?) which did identify the satellite by name in the signal meter. Is there an ID in the signal from a transponder that allows for identification? Seems like it should be included in all of the "antenna pointing" software for receivers.

Great idea but not all Satellites broadcast a NIT (Network infomation table) and some that do are incorrect due to changes in Satellite positions.

Even if some of the satellites don't broadcast NIT and/or some are incorrect, it would be way helpful for those that do and even those that are incorrect as you'd still have the name.
