Cool...I can't wait to see the new show. What will they call it? Criminal Minds inside the NCSI CSI?

"Forest Whitaker is in final negotiations to headline the Criminal Minds spin-off, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

CBS moving ahead with Criminal Minds spin-off

The Oscar winner will play Cooper, the head agent of a group of profilers who work outside the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. The mysterious Cooper has been off the grid for the last eight years. CBS could not confirm the casting.

The new team will be introduced in a spring episode of Criminal Minds. Minds executive producer and writer Chris Mundy wrote the spin-off, which is based on a story by him and executive producer and showrunner Ed Bernero."

I'll pass. I am having trouble watching the regular Criminal Minds due to all the creepy kid killing /family killing stories. I don't watch them at all when these stories are on. Last week it must of been suicide week. Criminal Minds had an episode, Nip Tuck had an episode, Ghost Whisper....

I don't think so.. When i heard that name i kinda went hum OK?? I will give the show a chance however.
I am interested in a Criminal Minds spin-off, but I am not very enthusiastic about Whitaker taking the lead. Personally, I would love to see Laurence Fishburne (Dr. Langston) take the lead role and Grissom return to CSI. Hmmm. I wonder what the odds are of Mandy Patinkin revising the role of Jason Gideon in the spin-off?

Yep, some of the shows are quite creepy...but it's always nice when they capture the bad guy.

Yea now this sounds good!:up

I sure hope CBS has had time to re-think the Forest Whitaker decision. To be honest, wouldn't Shemar Moore be a much, much, much, much, much better choice...especially since he's had some time "at the helm" with Hotch taking a backseat while The Reaper" was after his family?

Also, has anyone heard anything else about the new spin-off show?

OH yes another police show! Can't tv networks produce anything but hospital and cookie cutter cop/ detective shows? No imagination at all.

It looks like we'll get a sneak peak into the new Criminal Minds spinoff this week...Forest Whitaker hits the airwaves as Special Agent Sam Cooper. I'll be watching.
Heck yea i will too! I still think he should not be in the show. Even though he has changed his image with the weight loss!

I'm looking forward it too, but man would I love to see Special Jason Gideon leading the San Francisco division. I think Whitaker is a solid actor...just not leading a FBI BAU team. In my opinion, he would have to lose 40lbs and develop a "swagger" before he would be credible in this role. But who know?

Offhand, I get the feeling the spinoff is headed to Friday 10pm timeslot because I do not see Miami Medical lasting long - it's a stinker.

Holy Crap! CBS has been running previews of this weeks show and Whitaker looks completely different...lost even more weight and added some facial hair. The man is literally half the size he was a few years ago.

I was trying to get home and post this before you!!:D He looks well GREAT!! Maybe just maybe it will be good if he has a swagger like you said!

Whitaker did a good enough job, but his team (members) need some tweaking. Also, I noticed the new version of Forest Whitaker (Special Agent Sam Cooper) looks a lot like Police Chief Jessie Hubbard on my wife's soap - All My Children.

I thought it was a great episode. I like the sniper dude. He's cute! And the blond chick I think is from one of the Fantastic Four movies.
I liked the sniper dude and the blonde chick too, but not-so-much the other members of Agent Cooper's team. Plus, I've never run into an FBI agent with an Irish accept (sniper dude). Additionally, I thought Coopers team was going to be based out of San Francisco, but it looks like he is heading back to DC. I hope not because I really enjoyed SF and too many shows are already filmed in NY and DC.
