I just concluded an on-line chat, as to the new HD channels that are to be launched at 2:00 eastern.

Here is what was told to me:

"Please wait while we find a representative to assist you...
Thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer, I will be happy to assist you today. Please give me a moment to access your account and review the information you have already provided.

(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: New additions to the nation’s largest full-time HD line-up include EPIX HD, G4 HD, Headline News HD, History International HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, ShortsHD, Style HD and Turner Classic Movies HD.

(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: Consumers can enjoy these high definition channels and more via the most advanced DVR technology in the industry, DISH Network’s award-winning ViP® 922 SlingLoaded™ DVR.
Me: OK. But which packages will they be included in
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: Please give me two minutes while I check that for you.
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: I apologize but there's no update yet on the package line-up for these new additional channels.
Me: So, I will just have to wait?
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: I see that you do not have VIP922.
ME: No. I have VIP 622 & 722. Is that a problem?
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: Consumers can enjoy these high definition channels and more via the most advanced DVR technology in the industry, DISH Network’s award-winning ViP® 922 SlingLoaded™ DVR.
Me: So, are you saying that these new additions will only be available if I have the VIP 922?
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: Yes, that's right.
Me: So, does this mean I will have to swap my current receivers for 2 VIP 922's?
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: If you want to be able to watch the new HD channels, you need to get VIP922.
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: We do not have information yet if these channels will be available to other HD receivers too.
ME: Well, if what your telling me is true, it would be a huge expense for Dish to change all their receivers, don't you agree.
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: I understand that however at this time they are just available to VIP922
ME: I guess I will just have to wait till 2:00 pm to find out.
(03mk) Tuesday U.VK9: This information is based on the communication sent to us.

I think you would all agree that this doesn't make any sense, but then what else is new.

Why did you waste your time with a CSR about new channels? You should already know what they are. And you should also know they rarely know what they are talking about regarding new programming.

I just followed up with a call...........

Spoke to a CSR, competent in the kings english...(how refreshing)..........Anyway, he said that if you currently receive them in SD, you will get the HD counterpart at 2:00 eastern. Not sure where Epix will fit in that mix, maybe platinum?

The press release for Epix on Dish in another thread made it sound like Epix would be in the platinum package.

It will be interesting to see how this will come out. I would think that we who already have the HD/Platinum package would get Epix added to it, unless Dish is going to have a Platinum2 add on pack at an additional cost.
Ghpr13:)

CSR's won't know any information on the new channels until tomorrow...

Dumb I know.

Thanks for the heads up...Scott whats you toughts on the Platnium Discussion going on, do you think that they will bring back the 10.00 charge for those who have it combined already with HD
