No degree scale on dish!

I bought a 90cm dish and was it putting up today and got to the point of
setting the dish elevation and to my surprise..NO degree scale to adjust it.
Any ideas out there on how I can get my dish set,im using a motor too.
I have the motor bolted on(SG9120) and set the latitude on it and im stuck at the piont of the dish pointing now(elevation) and can't seem to locate a satellite by eyeballing it.

I would start by adjusting the Dish Elevation to be parallel to the Motor Tube.
Then raise the Dish Elevation just a little.
That make sense?

I used to have Direct TV years ago and I remember that the reciever I had when setting you're dish had audio, you could open the window and hear the signal strength, this Sonicview Premere is a BEAR!!!
No audio,so you have to keep going out and coming in the houseto check the signal meter on the tv,,the signal strgnth meter reads 90-100 no matter were you swing the dish and you NEVER get a quality reading and I have moved that dish about EVERY degree up and down and then some!
Any thoughts?
What am I doing wrong?

If possible, bring the receiver and small TV to the Dish.
What Sat are you aiming for?
List all your Equip, Dish, LNB, Motor
In the Setup Menu, what do you have entered for LNB Settings, and what Transponder do you have selected?

I tried to get my 9" old portable tv (tube type) to display the reciever but no go.
I think seeing these recievers put out a digital signal the old style TV's won't display them,I could be wrong though.
The equipment is a Sonicview 360 Premier RCV, a SaG9120 HH motor, a single standard
Ku linear LNBF, and a WS international 90cm dish.
I could hit a DTV satellite(with no meter) in the matter of minutes and have been on this thing for 5 hours and no signal yet.
I sure could use the help!

You haven't answered Lak's questions. Ie what sat are you aiming at? What transponder freq are you trying to tune (and also what is listed for the SR of that transponder in your transponder list)? What LO freq and LNBF type are set in your setup for that satellite? The answer to what you're doing wrong will probably be found there.
Ie 9 times out of 10 people are just using whatever default transponder is listed first in the receiver, and 9 times out of 10 that is an obsolete transponder that doesn't exist now, and you can't lock a transponder that isn't there. OR, they have the wrong LO freq or lnbf type set.

LO freq LNB of 10750,standard,and im trying to hit the true south satellite for my initial setup, but not getting it in the list of satelllites in the setup I see no Galaxy 19 and thats the one I want because it is the closest true south satellite for me.
So i tried what was in the menu AMC5 that was @97 degrees west as is the Galaxy 19 and transponder set to 11749,,as I said before..im getting a good signal 90-100 but no quality, does that mean im even close?
The motor i have set for usal and port1 on the DiSEqC..don't know if thats right or not,the motor does have power.

Ok.there was no Galaxy 19 in my satellite menu so I changed the Intelasat AMC5 to Galaxy 19 which they both had the same 97 degree position.
Transponder set to 11966 and getting 92 on the signal meter and 0 on quality.
I have the LNB @Standard,freq- 10750 and motor on USAL..I try a search and I get nothing and says "failed".

...transponder set to 11749...
Doesn't look like that TP is active on Galaxy 19
Look to see if Galaxy 25, or any Sat that has 97.0 West for it's location, then see if 12151 H 20000 is listed in the Transponder List

im getting a good signal 90-100 but no quality, does that mean im even close?
Nope, Signal Strength just indicates the connection from the receiver to the LNB, nothing to do with the signal from the Sat to the LNB.

Unless your receiver has an HDMI port, it's not putting out a digital signal.

You're not connecting your TV to the "IF out" port, are you? That's not what it's for.

It doesn't look like the Sonicview 360 has a modulated output. If your TV has a yellow video input plug, you'll have to use that. If it doesn't, you could use an old VCR to modulate the video signal for your TV.

Hi kspilot and the group, first are you sure the receiver does not have an audio meter?

Some receivers do not have it enabled by default. On my Mercury II for example I have to turn it from one of the menus after a reset. After I turn it on it works great.

To use the old TV hook it up to the TV out connector on the back of the receiver and then make sure the TV and the receiver are on the same channel - should be CH 3 or 4 in most cases. If the old TV is really old and has a dial channel selector you should still be able to get it to work by using the fine tuning dial under the big dial.

I like to use a cheap analogue satellite finder meter to rough in the dish. The satellite finder can be adjusted to start to squeal when it is near any satellite and any TP then you back off the adjustment and start to get the dish closer. This really helps sort out the elevation very quickly then after the dish is close start trying to find the TP you are after on the receiver.

Hope this helps, DC

YES!
You guys were right,my TV can be used as the monitor,I just didn't have it set in A/V mode, got it set and walla..I get the installation screen,I will go outside
with my reciever and tv and try to tackle the signal issue again!
Thanks for the support so far!:)
Anybody have a working TP today from Galaxy 19?

I bought this Satellite system from Galaxy Marketing and they swear the degree's gauge is on the inside of the dish bracket..I will have to look again..maybe my eyes are decieving me..im over 50 ya know...LOL.

LAK,under the Galaxy 19 list it DOES have a transponder of 12151 H 2000,do I enter that total number in the transponder box on the reciever or just the 12151?
Oh another thing I think I had wrong,I had the DISEQC set to port 1,im not using a switch,I only have one LNB so I will switch it to off.
Lot of learning but I think when I get the initial setup I will be off and running!

If the TP is already listed, just make sure you have that one selected in the Setup menu.
Since you are not using a Switch, it does not matter how it's set.
Yes, learning the receiver and Equipment Spec's is the hardest part.

Well..I have been outside moving the dish,up,down, sideways, and NO quality,PLENTY of signal but NO quality.
I did have the dish bracket on upside down.(have the elevation scale now)
LAK.I tried you're recommended TP's and nothing there, there has to be another problem somewhere because it should not have to be this hard to locate a satellite.
I had a Direct TV dish setup in 5 minutes with 96% signal and the dish was mounted to a 4X4 wood post that would wiggle all the time in the 30-40 mph wind and never lost a signal,so I think im not getting something entered right or the satellite is down..I don't know.
It's going to rain this afternoon and for the next 2 days so if I do not get it today..I guess Iwill try some other day.:(
Oh,by the way I do have the monitor and reciever outside so I can watch EVERY move.
