After June 3rd you can setup autopay and get free HD for life. However, what they don't want you to know is that you can cancel your autopay and still receive free HD for life. I am an employee and I was told that by several higher ups in Denver.

I don't know where you heard this, these are the disclosures I saw...

HD for Life [if applicable]

ü “You also will receive "HD For Life," which means that the normal $10 monthly HD add-on fee (which permits a DISH subscriber to receive an HD simulcast of standard-definition programming in qualified packages) will be waived until cancellation or disconnection of your DISH service for any reason.”
o [if 24-month option chosen] “In order to get HD for Life, you agree to a 24-month commitment and you agree to maintain Auto Pay with Paperless Billing.”
o “If Auto Pay with Paperless Billing is removed from your account, you may be charged the full price for HD programming.”

This is susposed to be an incentive to get customers want to have auto-pay on their account.

I have a feeling its going to work just like Cinemax. Remove autopay and when you come home one day all your HD channels will be in red.

I have asked this question a couple of times on another forum, but have you heard how Dish will handle HD for Life for those of us who are on a bundle (IE Century Link)??

I wouldn't want to cancel auto-pay anyway. I get 1% cash back for it. I have my Dish bill, phone bill, internet bill, and anyone else who will do it.

I'm looking into putting my mortgage on my credit card too. They will do it, but I'm not sure if I get the rewards or not yet.

Not to mention that I am paperless on almost everything. As much as I can, I consolidate things. I used to hate doing it through the mail.

When I bought my new car, the lady at <manufacturer> finance was shocked that I called them up to get paperless as soon as the loan was originated. I told her that I was more worried about my mail getting stolen than someone getting my online info. :)

Hi. Please excuse me if this has been already answered. On the HD for life matter, what happens if I don't have HD but interested in it and I'm already enrolled in auto pay and paperless billing? Can I get HD for life without any problems? Thanks.

DITTO, and what about if you have auto/paperless and bundled with your phone company?

So everyone's bill is going to drop $10 for doing this????? Seems kinda silly business-wise.

People have been saying that eventually HD would not be a premium, it would be the norm for television (the new SD) and eventually the $10 fee should not apply if pretty well all the stations are in HD.

I believe all you will have to do is renew a 24 month commitment and continue with you c.c. auto pay with paperless billing.

long time

Eventually could be a very long time from now. There will most likely always be some sort of SD no matter what. Now "all" the channels may be "HD" but there is still much more content that is SD than has been created in HD. Pretty sure migration of WA arc will take place before all programming packs will be HD.

Same here...I have either auto pay or automatic CC billing as much as I can, along with on line statements.:)

we all know hd for life starts june 3rd. but what also happens on june 3rd is that the current "hd with free plat" promotion ends. those who have it will be grandfathered in and still get hd and plat for only 10.00 bucks.

so if you currently have hd and plat for the 10.00 deal, you will lose the free plat channels when you sign up for hd for life, they will remove your "hd with free plat" promotion and then the platinum will be added on your bill alone for 10.00 a month.

so if you need to keep plat channels, your bill will be the same in the end. if you do not want the plat channels, then it is 10.00 bucks a month cheaper for you.

You are an employee in Minnesota talking with "higher ups" in Denver? Usually when I hear something like this, my BS meter goes crazy!
