I'm confused.

-So does my 722k already have the OTA Module installed or do I have to buy one?

-With the OTA Module do all my OTA channels integrate with my satellite channels in the guide via my HDMI output? Or are they only integrated via the RF/coax TV1 output?

Please clarify, thanks.

Generally you have to buy it, it is not included unless you tell them you want it.

And all the locals it finds will integrate in the guide and provide the signal just like the satellite channels. Makes it very handy when all 4 networks have something you want to watch/record. I do it fairly often and usually while watching a different pre-recorded event.

Extremely versatile.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 722k has an RF/coax output for the TV2 feed right? Will the OTA channels also be integrated into the TV2 RF/coax feed so I can see my OTA channels & satellite channels on TV2?

You would have been wrong if you had the single OTA tuner 722, which does not pass HD channels.

Not correct. If we are talking about TV2 we are talking Dual Mode. Only one of the OTA tuners will be visible in SD on TV2.

Sorry, Salti, but TV2 RF output has both TV1 and TV2 in it.

My remote TV has TV1 on channel 23 and TV2 on channel 26, you can set them to various channels depending on which OTA channels are open.

Jim,

You've got to read the question and also the answer.

I understand and have explained to others many times that both TV 1 and also TV2 are available on the "In Home Distribution Outlet."

The question is re a 722k and the availability of the OTA channels on TV2. My reply included a remark that in that the question used the term TV2,, I assumed that the 722k was in Dual Mode. (There really is not TV1 and TV2 in Single Mode.)

In any event, in Dual Mode on a 722k only one of the two OTA tuners is available on TV2. ) on a 722 or 622 the one and only tuner would not be available at all on TV2 in Dual Mode.

There has been a lot of bum info posted in this thread.

OTA on TV2

I cannot see OTA channels on TV2 on my VIP 222 (this STB comes with the OTA tuner integrated). I guess TV2 could not see OTA on any dual TV STB.

A little clarification is needed here.

On the 722K with the OTA module you can watch OTA on both TV1 and TV2.
The module is a DUAL OTA tuner so each TV can watch one of the tuners.

As I said, on a 722kin dual Mode one OTA tuner can be seen on TV2. And, yes, of course the other OTA tuner can only be seen on TV1.

Also, on a 722k in single Mode there really is no TV1 and TV2 and both OTA tuners can be seen at both the local TV and the remote TV as they are the same.

As I said, both the question and the answer to that question must be read.

Kevin,

This is only true in Dual Mode. In Single Mode both OTA tuners can be watched/controlled at both locations.

When did the price of the OTA module go up?? It used to be $29 on the Dish Website, now it is $50! That is quite a price increase. Is this new technology?

Come on! DISH just wants more profits. Can you possibly begrudge them a few extra dollars. It's only $21.00 more.

And it was free for the asking fourteen months ago - came with the new 722k.

It may not be advertised as being free, but I would guess they don't actually cost very much to manufacturer. I bought what was listed as a new 722 off eBay, but I received a new 722k. The seller is a Dish retailer/installer and when I noted my displeasure of no OTA in the 722k he sent me a brand new module free.
