For the last few years I have used an 18" round at tailgates and have only been able to get certain channels off the 101W satellite. I'm about to try a slimline so that I can pick up local channels.

The HOME dish is a 5 LNB slimline. Believe it's a single wire.

The TAILGATE Dish is a Slimline AU9S SWM Three LNB Ka / Ku Slim Line

The HOME has a HR23-700 and an H23-600. I plan on using the H23-600 at the tailgate.

From what I've read, I should be pointing this thing at the 101W satellite and then I should fine tune to pick up the 99W and the 103W, correct? To do this, it looks as though I use the same elev (37.3) and azimuth (224 magn) as 101, but with a different tilt (66 degrees to right) than if I was just trying to hit 101W (24.5 degrees to right). Am I on the right track here?

Now I've heard that I might need to point to the 110W and fine tuning to pick up 101W and 119W.

How do I figure out which is correct?

ALSO - I was told that if I at least lock onto the 101W (Ka), I should get ESPN and my locals and that I only really need to try to fine tune to the others (Ku) if I want HD. Does this sound right?

Thanks in advance.

The "Search" function at the top of the page is your best friend, there is a TON of info about tailgating in it.

Make sure the dish is plumb, use a compass to give your general starting point.
You didn't say where your tailgating from in relationship to where your at now, so we have no idea if you need to change the tilt, I would GUESS that you should not have to change anything with the TILT, unless your along ways away.

Yes, the 101 is where the Core programming is, find that first and dither (fine tune) to get the 99 and 103 sats.

Remember, your signals don't need to be perfect, your only there for the day.
Anything over 70 on the 99 and 103 would be enough to get you HD, providing the recvr will accept it.
