HD signal

I will preface this with ... I am not technically savy in any way shape or form.

We have a Dish VIP211k receiver and a Dish Network 1000 dish. It was upgraded a few years ago by a professional installer. We had no HD channels at the time. A short time later we received additional channels to try which included many HD channels. We could not get good reception on any HD channels. The signal was interrupted and it would be lost frequently when on an HD channel. It reminded me of a tape that was dragging or catching. So when they wanted us to pay for the upgrade I called and described the problem. They said we would have to pay to have a technician come out and check it out. I said forget that and canceled the HD part of the plan. WELL ... now we receive free HD channels that still are not viewable. That was OK till today when the Hallmark channel went HD. I am disgusted!

My question ... does any of this make sense to anyone. Our reception is perfect on all the regular channels. We rarely loose a signal and are in general very happy. But more and more channels are going HD and we are able to view less and less. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Cyndi

Are they trees to the right side of the dish? Chances are the 129 sat you need for hd is probably blocked. Your probably getting partial signal. Seeing you said it breaks up. Maybe contact a member of the DIRT team on this forum. They may be able to help set up a service call to retune your dish or relocate it.

Your location of United States is not helpful you maybe on the Western Arc or should be moved to the Eastern Arc, You may have a 1000 dish, the original 1000 which was a smaller dish than the current 1000.2 Western Arc dish or the 1000.4 Eastern Arc dish. Definitely contact a DIRT member for realignment/replacement of your dish.
