wow, umm okay...
as long as it gives you the information, who cares if it's old looking? I'd rather Dish spend their/my money in something more worthwhile than the way the guide looks.

i have 2 622 in my home and the guide is ok but to old looking ???
The 922 has one and the new yet to be released Hopper(XiP813) will have it as well. of course it is irrelevant right now since the 922 is unavailable to upgrade to and the hopper is yet to be released. Check in next week for Dish news from CES.

You do have it set to 16:9 mode?

I think the guide on my 622 is quite good.. better than most for showing as much info as it does vs. what I've seen on other providers.

Personally I'd love to see then make the fonts half as big and show even more info.. but most folks quint when they look at my monitor at work, I've learned I'm in the optically-blessed group of ppl .. as I put it, on the eye chart, I can read the itty bitty copyright line at the bottom.

And that means something, you probably just memorized it :D

They don't need to make it "HD"... If they want to improve the guide, modify the 'extended' format so that it lists the number of channels it currently does in one view... except make it only show the next 1.5 hours of time (like in the standard mode)... That way you can see more of each title than, what, the first 4 letters if it's a 30 minute show?

Without my glasses or contacts, on a good day, I read "E." Drat you! ;)

Just be happy you don't have the Comcast guide, looks like it comes from the 80's. I don't think they will upgrade the guide in 722's etc. But the newer 922/813 etc will have it.

I have both providers... really do like the new HD gui with Directv but, the Dish guide still provides me with more information per page as the Directv guide is only 1.5 hours... the HD gui is about as snappy / quick as Dish now though.

Exactly!.Think the question should be when will DirecTV's guide be a 3 hour guide like Dish! has?.;)

What's so special about it?
If you see it you will know. The PQ is much better. Many more interactive features. The design and UI is much simpler. They added APPs to directly connect to YouTube and Pandara. It is much faster. The graphics are a lot clearer and easier to read/see. It is pretty amazing.

With all of the negative comments about having an HD guide, let me give you my perspective.

I thought the same thing before the HD guide was installed on my DVR. I did not think it would be that big of a deal. After all you mostly watch what is on the channels; you spend very little time watching the guide. After having it, my view completely changed. I have a feeling that if Dish added the HD guide as well, most of the posters on here that currently do not think it is all that big of a deal will end up praising it once they have it. Just like I did.

If the guide became HD I'm sure I'd like the look of it. If it doesn't it gets the job done just as well....

Or give us the option to set it in the number of hours we want (within a certain range of course). I would still prefer 1.5 or maybe 2 hours myself. Once you get to 3 or more hours the amount of info in the guide becomes less.
