Was anything said at CES on NY sports, or is that just a forgotten subject now. I know everyone has a case of Hoppermania, but my contract will be up this year, and I'd like to know if they are at least trying to work out a deal with the NY RSN's.

I asked and was told not to expect any changes. It's business as usual in that aspect from DISH.

It's pretty simple.....they just don't care about it. And that leads me to believe that the 3,000 subscriber number in upstate NY I heard in passing on TV could be very accurate. Which for an area of over 1.5 million people, there's alot of potential. If DISH cared, they could do well here like they used to.

It's still not going to matter. DISH doesn't care about the upstate NY market and it looks like they don't care about the metro NYC market, either.

And this is why Dish will never drop ESPN unless they want to kill off their business. People don't stick with television providers who don't carry sports.

I think from a business perspective, given that the NY RSNs are on the pricey side compared to others, they would have to raise rates on everyone to pay for them. They talked about that on a Charlie Chat years ago. I think they said YES alone would raise rates by a couple bucks or so. Add in the others and it might be a good chunk of change. I'm guessing they look at balancing the loss of subs from higher rates to the loss of subs from not having the RSNs.

They say they are doing well in the NY area without RSN's, but never provide numbers... so we will have to take their word for it.

Their new slogan is Movies,Music and Magic... so obviously sports is not part of their business plan.

I kind of figured on the answer you gave me, but I thought maybe with the whole TWC MSG battle, you might have heard something on the Dish front. I understand that they cost a lot, and that is fine, but when we lost the channels , they didn't give us any compensation.

Yep no mention of sports at all.Wish they would change their tune a bit on that..What's ironic to me is the use of the word (Magic). The first thing that pops into my head when I hear that word is disney and that big eared mouse. Can't have magic without a renewed contract with Disney,ABC,ESPN.
