Thats the beauty of PTA, you can use it or not use it, it is your choice. Some of you guys are acting that this feature is being forced on you, its not. If you don't want to upgrade to Hopper and Joey then don't... it is your choice. :)

Choice is a great thing!

as many times as it has been said in this thread alone, it seems that it still hasn't sunk in...

Before I totally knew how it worked, I kind of wrote it off. Now, knowing all the facts, I would use it. The thing that made me like it was the fact that you could save individual programs to DVR for later viewing. At first, when I thought it was 8 days or nothing, I wasn't interested.

My house hold watches predominately network shows during Primetime. We watch heavily CBS then FOX , ABC ,CW & NBC last. I have over 40 timers just for network shows using a combination of ota and satellite. Some nights we have 4 programs recording from 7:00pm till 10:00pm central times. I would love the PTA feature and the ability of watching hd in any room using one Hopper and two joeys. But it ALL will depend on PRICE of the equipment and whether they allow OTA modules so we can record local news . Many a time during rain storms and even during a hurricane a few years back , we could still watch our dvr using the ota module. So I hope they add that feature quickly. But if they price it out of range , like I suspect they will , I will probably not bother to upgrade to it. I definitely will not be BUYING the receivers any more. Being burned on both the 921pvr and then the 922dvr is enough to teach me a lesson.

So how about we ALL stop conjecturing until we know the price(s)? Am I asking too much??

That will be another topic itself when ever it is announced. Everything until official word from dish is just pure speculation & more than a tad  personal opinion.

As always if you don't want to read it don't. This forum is just like the Hopper, you have a choice.

This is so true. On the other hand can also be very entertaining with all the speculation, rumors & downright funny. The only 1 I know of rubbing shoulders with the ceo is Scott. I take whatever he says serious & the rest as entertainment. :)

Others could have rubbed shoulders with the CEO at CES, but they chose not to, instead they were only interested in covering the satellite company that wasn't there.

This was only my second time meeting Joe, the first time was when Sirius launched on DISH.

And a job well done..........:up:up:up:up Thanks for all your hard work. :)

Devil's advocate time...PTAT is completely optional except for the HDD partition that is reserved for it. Yes, if you don't use it, that space is used to download more VOD content, but it would be nice to be able to disable both PTAT and VOD and make that space available for user recordings.

Even though I am not a Dish sub, I do like this whole concept they are doing. It is a nice feature and option available for those that may be interested. I always say the more choice available, the better it is for everyone. I am hoping other providers will incorporate this idea into their technology as well.

I do understand that most of what is watched and recorded by most is still on the big 4 networks.

With that said, if I were a Dish sub or if this was available on DirecTV, I personally would not be interested. This is mainly because of the fact that it is only my wife and I and both of us pretty much agree on watching the same programs as it is. We seldom to never run into recording conflicts and most of what we record and watch is not on the big 4 networks anyway.

Can I use an old 110/119 antenna on 61.5/72.7?

Loss of Dish signal and OTA viewing.
