Hopper news updates

Retailers really don't make much on upgrades. I know there are a few retailers that won't even do them. We like to do it as a service to our current customers and hopefully gain some new ones. The main reason we like to keep or gain that customer is because we offer other services other than Dish. We also sell TVs and appliances. If we do an upgrade for a person maybe they'll buy a TV or refrigerator from us next time.

Retailers that only deal with Dish may not be as profitable from doing upgrades.

Hopper MSRP $449 That is $50 less than originally expected.
Joey MSRP $149 (YIKES) This is $50 more than was originally expected.
Remote MSRP $20
Isolator MSRP $5
Solo Node MSRP $35
Duo Node MSRP $60
Tap MSRP $5
HIC MSRP $30

So a two Hopper/ two Joey system will actually sill cost the same as originally expected.

Scherrman, I just want to say that you have been a very helpful and valuable resource on this forum. I am sure you have been for a very long time with your post count...however, I don't really recall "running into you" as much until the Hopper/Joey was announced. Your posts are informative and extremely helpful. If you were in my area, you'd definitely get my business! Thank you sincerely for all you do! :)

I've installed & signed up customers for several retailers in the past, still do occasionally. 1 retailer I had worked for did around 1500 systems a year. They all including myself would try to flip a customer rather than do an upgrade, there isn't much money in upgrades & it is far more profitable to sign up a new customer. For those that want to upgrade through a retailer you would be better off finding 1 that does dish only.

DVR Fee $6/mo.
Whole-Home DVR Fee $4/mo.
1st TV $0/mo.
Additional TV outlets $7/mo.

PrimeTime Anytime
Customers who have all 4 major networks in HD will have all 4 recorded
Customers who only have 1 -3 major networks in HD will only have the HD ones recorded
Customers who only have locals in SD will not be able to use PTAT

So there you have it. So of this may be news to you and the rest is just reconfirming other news.

Thanks for the info

so besides those fee's you have the $7 HD Receiver fee still (or does that get waived or is the HD programing fee different and thats the one that gets waived?) You just pay the package price for service and extras correct?

What would a single hooper and single joey with AT250 cost a new subscriber a month with Blockbuster?

thanks again

Yeah I know and I think that is mistake... I think they would make MORE if they give you the first Joey for free (included with the 1st Hopper)

Scott if they give us the 1st Joey, $0, with the Hopper it could cost $20 for 2 Hoppers and a Joey each, right?

1st hopper
DVR fee $6
WHFEE $4
1st Joey $0

2nd Hopper
DVR fee $6
WHfee $4
Joey $0

Perhaps this is why they won't give up the 1st Joey for free.

Or if they charge the $7 extra hopper fee, well then it becomes $27 without charging for the Joey's.

I am guessing because no one knows the answer. :)

If you are going to pay the upgrade fee for the second Hopper then I dont see why not. :)

That's what I've said all along - it's problematic to enforce a ratio. Even if they require a Joey or two at install time, what do they do when you call next week and want to drop them?
