We just moved to a new apartment and when I had the Dish installer come by to hook up my 722, we found out that our regular satellites were blocked 100% by trees so he had to point a dish to a different source (61.5 I think) but that left me with no local channels (other than the OTA adapter which works fine - our locals are in Columbus Ohio). We usually are recording 2-3 things off of network TV every night so this is a problem.

So, I started reading up on the PTAT feature of the Hopper which would solve my problems... but I wonder: since I cannot access my locals via my Dish will PTAT work for me?

Thanks.

You should have said "yes", but the recordings will be empty ;)

Considering the state of most TV today I totally agree with that statement!

Anyways, thanks for the info. This saves me the time of arguing about how much it would have costed for the upgrade. Now I need to find my HD Homerun box and build a MythPC...

3 tuners don't last long?

Should I wait before getting the Hopper?
