Thanks Scott! I assume the manual is still a work in progress as I've discovered many errors and omissions so far. Still a lot of good stuff in there.

FYI: The user guide has a section on connecting Joey(s) and the satellite dish to the Hopper. These sections are lifts from previous manuals that direct connect to the dish and use NTSC RF "Home Video Network" to connect other TVs. The information is mostly incorrect for Hopper/Joey even though the text calls out Hoppers and Joeys!

The Joey instructions talk about connecting the "Home Video Network" to the back of the Hopper. MOCA isn't really a home VIDEO network. However, the cabling instructions from the Joey perspective are essentially correct.

There is no mention of the node. The section on connecting the dish talks about "Satellite 1" and "Satellite 2" inputs to the Hopper, and also mentions using a separator.

Remote section still references manual 3 digit code entry rather than on-screen programming with 4 digit codes.

The Remote code list is completely blank.

The graphics for slow motion show the stop button instead of pause button.

Note: When setting Seek & Record™ timers for programs available in both HD and SD, by
default, the receiver will automatically select the HD program for recording.
So, it looks like there is no "Resolution" option anymore. I set my daughter's cartoons up as SD timer recordings to save HDD space. :(

I take it Dish plans to distribute these to us first customers, once they have them revised? Maybe we will need to order them down the line.

You can select HD or SD, but if you don't select anything it defaults to HD.

I'm not sure. Seems pretty strange to me.
I for one think printed manuals are a thing of the past at least as something that comes in the box. PDF manuals available on-line is my preference.

I realize others may prefer a printed manual and it makes sense that one is be made available on request. Printing manuals comes at a cost so this could be one reason Dish isn't including one in the box.

Also, the current version of the manual is far from finished/accurate in areas mentioned in previous posts so it might be better to not include it until it's finished.

Good point, a bit early to have a finished manual. Maybe they can email H/J users a link for the manual.

they should have waited for atleast a few copies of the manual before releasing it...atleast with a hard copy, a customer can actually skim through it while the system is being DL..not all customers have access to a computer or be able to login to there account especially if the account holder is not home...

EMAIL manual to customer when they sign up for H/J setup would be nice so atleast they can read over it before we get there...

I noted that the External Device codes are not there, although there is a section for them. It'a obviously not finished.....

FWIW, I got manuals with my Hopper that was installed Saturday. Maybe they missed the first Hoopers that were produced?

You got the same full manual that is linked on this thread? I got some 'stuff' that was more like quick setups and remote control functions, and that's it. I guess Dish has some catching up to do. Maybe they have 'some splainin' to do' too. :)

I stand corrected. I missed the first link due to the ads on the thread!
