I thought the dish mover program is free dish tried to charge me 100 dollars for it I said no and then they said 50 which I also said no to then 25. So is it free or not to move?
 
There have always been some qualifications to get the free mover, but I don't know what they are. They gave me a "free" mover, but charged me $100 afterwards anyway and there was no way to get out of it. I even asked the installer before he started to make sure it was free. He said it was. I came close to cancelling at that time, thinking they had really screwed me over. I still think that.

What type of "DVD" are you expecting from DISH? FREE DVR upgrade has always been with a 2 year contract if you qualify for an upgrade. Free dishmover used to be part of the protection plan, or as already stated still under contract. Some times it was also offered as a benefit for long time customers.

Never. One has nothing to do with the other. And I assume you mean DVR.

As to the $100 I believe any equipment needed is free for the move, the cost of the installer is $100, less or nothing if you have the protection plan. At least that's how it was just a couple of years ago. I do seem to remember some posts where the cost was bargained, but before not after getting the billing. I don't doubt a CSR simply saying it's free, meaning the cost of equipment.

Back in 2008, even the install labor was free. My added charge was for a second dish since it was an eastern arc install and the installer didn't have a 1000.4. This was a snowbird mover. I argued with Dish that it wasn't my fault, but they could have cared less that they told me it was to be free. I would have done my own install had they told me I would have to pay what I ended up having to pay. There are times when I absolutely hate this company and its Bullsh!t way of doing things. When they tell you it's totally free and it turns out not to be, it leaves a really bitter taste. It's not that I couldn't afford the outlay, it's the violation of doing business honestly which is the way I do business with my peeps.
 
Dishmovers are generally free unless you are not in good standing with Dish. If you do not qualify for the free Dishmover then you have to pay $100. I actually think all Dishmovers should be $100 because it's basically a new install for the installer. It's a lot of work for little pay just to keep the customer with Dish.
 
FWIW I got a free Dishmover 7 years ago. They tried to charge me $100 for a second dish (hybrid install back then), but I prevailed and got it for subscribing to AT200 for a year. (Actually I'm on AT250.)
 
As a contract technician I definitely wish dish would back out of the throttle a little bit with cramming the word "Free" down everyones throat. I can't even count the number of times customers have 1. ) cut all the existing rg6 in their home because they thought the new free cable would work better. 2.) while having their dream home built told the builder 'no cable please dish will do it for free'. 3.) Customers new 42" tv is in the trunk of their car waiting for me to unpack and hang on the wall and hide the cables in the wall..FOR FREE!!!!. I could go on but im hungry now.

I know exactly what you're talking about and feel your pain.
 
"Qualifying Accounts"... It's right there at the bottom of the screen. And ad fine print. 90% of cust qualify unless you are a pay in advance customer or make company no money.

Never had the number one pulled on me. I suspect I got a number two. Very new appearing house with absolutely no cable in it. #3 happens all the time. I have gotten good at explaining about potential liability issues.

What annoys me is the upgrades where it is supposed to be a drop and swap. In my case the customer always wants the upgrade receivers in different, unwired, rooms. I know that when I leave they move them back and just specified it so they would have all rooms wired for free.
 
As stated above, in general, for all but the lowest rated customers, Dishmovers are free. An exception to this is if the customer requires an international dish. In those cases it could cost $0, $100 or $200, depending on the customers rating. Currently, having or not having "protection Plan" on your account has no bearing on the fees paid for a Dishmover.

No freaking joke. Or the : " I don't like this outlet, can you move it to the other side of the fire place?"

That should be between you and DISH, not you and the customer.
 
Thats true. Too bad DISH gets to make the ultimate decision as to what customers are rated and how much they have to pay for upgrades and movers.
