Predictions now that the first half is over:

AL Wild Card- Angels over Rays

AL Divisional- Angels over Yankees........Rangers over Tigers

ALCS- Angels over Rangers

NL Wild Card- Pirates over Dodgers

NL Divisional- Giants over Pirates........Reds over Braves

NLCS- Giants over Reds

World Series- Angels over Giants (just like 10 years ago)

Well, isn't that interesting, Bill? I had been seeing some similarities to 2002 also along the way this season. We've been so damn caught up in fighting the Rangers that we can easily forget it was via the Wild Card the Angels won it all.

Mets82,

To be honest, the Angels are so stacked right now Big Papi would just push some budding star out of the way. Albert will eventually be the DH but not for a few years. We have Trumbo as a sure-fire DH when Mike wants to play someone like Burjous in the OF. I look for Burjous to be our OF "replacement" for Torri beginning next season. Between Peter and Mike Trout in the OF and running sprints along the bases, it makes one's mouth water thinking of next season!!!

This year it's the young bats, in 2002 it was the young pitchers (K-Rod, Shields, Donnelly and Lackey) that gave the Angels a shot in the arm.

Jose Bautista belted a few shots...

What was amazing to me about Bautista was him telling the catcher,"line-up inside as if your trying to jam me..."

Then proceeded to hit monster dongs...

Jimbo,

You don't know him being from the East/Midwest. This boy has hot huge HR's this year. He deserved to be there and I'm proud of what he did.

The MLB All-Star Game ratings are not what they once were.

To put it in perspective- 30 years ago, the 1982 Midsummer Classic at Montreal got a 25.0 rating.

Last year's game got a 6.9 rating.

The obvious excuse is 'There are more alternatives,' but the game still got steady double-digit ratings up until 2001.
