I used chat to talk to support (he suggested Blockbuster @Home DVD package ). I asked to be transferred to loyalty, and they offered me the $10/month for a year but no Roku. Given I've been a Dish customer for about 15 years, I was a bit surprised. I told them I'd think about it.

Is it worth calling loyalty and seeing if I would get a different response?

Other than time, what have you got to lose??

I did, and I went to great lengths to detail to the support rep how I've seen every episode of Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Walking Dead. No dice. I was more than a bit surprised.

did you actually speak to loyalty dept.?imho though $10 off for a yr is certainly worth more than a roku.however if you would prefer the roku call back be sure to ask for loyalty, mention satelliteguys and you know of customers getting both $10/12 and a roku.

Loyalty is the key, when I was discussing my situation, I was transferd to loyalty for the roku

Yep we have too.Not sure what speed the wifi chip is capable of,I know its b/g/n so I assume it can go up 300mbps.I'm gonna try and install plex media server this afternoon and stream some 1080p from the pc via the roku.If it doesn't skip or stutter with that then it shouldn't have any problems with virtually everything.

The Roku is 2.4Ghz only and only one antenna so it is not multi-Spatial, so max is going to be 150Mbps.

it's been mentioned here that someone measured Amazon at 13Mbs. I have enver mentione dit so I turly can't say he's wrong but I know from experience having the Roku since 2009 that Amazon though it looks good in HD doesn't come anywhere near Blu Ray quality. Blu Ray is up atleast as high as 13Mbs if not higher. According to Amazon's website you only need 3.5Mbs to get thier service in HD. so I therefor something is a miss when he states he's using 13Mbs.

I tested a few different channels with their streaming and the results are posted here http://www.satelliteguys.us/streami...n-forum/288485-streaming-bandwidth-usage.html

Thanks for that!I have had some success streaming 1080p across my network with no hiccups at 150Mbps.My netgear router is max 150Mbps anyway.720P works great at that speed.

Well I finally got my Roku box today via Fed Ex. It was sent overnight from yesterday. Of course no HDMI cable like I was promised. So I did a chat and got Austin G. who talked with a supervisor and said that hthey would send me a HDMI cable and waive the $10.00 charge for it??? and it would be delivered in 4-5 days. I told him the 4-5 days was unacceptable. That I was promised the HDMI cable on 7/2 and the Loyalty Dept assured me on two other calls that the HMDI cable was shipped out. This was even verified yesterday by Adrian of the Loyalty Dept. So he Austin G puts me on hold and speaks to his supervisor again. He comes back and tells me that they will ship the cable overnight to me...for a $20.00 charge! I told him no way! I said the cable was part of the package Dish offered me for the AMC fiasco, and I can't use the Roku without that cable. Dish is the one that screw up mailing it out and I'm not about to pay for their error. Back on hold while he spoke to his supervisor again...When he came back he advised me the cable would ship overnight, free of charge. I thank him for his help in this matter and sent in a glowing complement on him after the chat.

Now before anyone thinks I'm rather petty for wanting a HDMI cable shipped overnight for free, specially when I can get one for $3.00 at MonoPrice...But it's the principle. It was part of the offer Dish made. Why offer it if you're not going to follow through. I get the feeling that Dish was caught a little off guard with the free Roku offer along with adding in an HDMI cable (which is probably a large profit item for them,) and they dropped the ball on a good portion of these offers. Anyway, Austin G was one of the best CSRs I ever had from Dish.:)

I won a 6' hdmi cable yesterday on ebay auction for $3.14,had some ebay bux so ended up getting it including shipping for .97.:D

Thanks for all the info here everyone, given the issues some have had I made a quick call to customer service and my credits and Roku are showing on the account, just not online yet, so I will sit back a few days and wait for things to happen.

Note this Historic day that I am agreeing with you!!

Petty is putting it kindly. F'n greedy and impatient FOR FREE stuff is more appropriate.
