AT&T to charge for Facetime over 3G in iOS6?

I really hope Verizon does not follow suit. It's nice as it is having the tether option with the new share everything plan. Hopefully Verizon will stick to the "everything" when it comes to this....

Bad move on AT&T's part but it does not surprise me.

It should be included with any data plan, as thats what it is, DATA! SAD, and to use a facebook term, this has me smh

This is what I don't get either. Since we do not have unlimited data on most of our phones, why would it matter? In fact, I'd think they'd advertise the feature to get you to go over your data limit. That would make good business sense.

UNLESS, the answer is AT&T knows their network can't handle it? But really? How much bandwidth does low res video take from a 3.5" phone?

Perhaps it is going to be a way AT&T prods people off of unlimited. I bet they come out with their version of shared data before the iPhone release. If you want facetime, tethering, shared data pool, etc. you will have to give up unlimited. I wonder if they will also do like VZ and say if you want subsidized phones you have to give it up?

Of course AT&T is not really unlimited any more, once over the cap you get dialup speed...

And on that point...

AT&T to Begin Offering Shared Data Plans in Late August - Mac Rumors

This is just crazy stupid. They are trying to nickel and dime everybody til we quit having cell phones.

They have been nickle and dime'in us since the cell phone was invented. Now that people are finding a way around the old methods (high voice minutes and text fees), they are turning to new things to nickle and dime us with.

Essentially they just want a minimum amount of revenue per line. These new plans from VZ and AT&T do just that...

At least AT&T isn't forcing people to change plans (even when getting a new phone). That seems like a huge plus to me.

One should still be able to tether with the new share plan. I would think it would show the data being used by the host hot spot.

Edit: Oops. We should continue this topic in the other thread.

Aye tee tee lost me a while back over throttling my unlimited data on my iPhone. I had been with them for years. I went prepaid virgin mobile 45.00 per month with a 4G HTC EVO 3D
