This past weekend the Dodgers yet again past the 3million mark in attendance. I believe this is like the 28th time they have done this, by far more times than any other team.

I have a feeling we may see an all Maryland region World Series.

I doubt Baltimore will advance to the World Series. They MAY advance to the ALCS but I see it ending there for them.

Still hoping for a Rangers return to the WS and hopefully 3rd time's the charm to finally win it.

Looks like the 25th, by my eyeball scan of the annual figures in Baseball Reference. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/LAD/attend.shtml That's 25 times over the previous 35 years. The Yankees have the longest streak, of 14 straight years, and have exceeded 4 million 4 times. I am surprised to see that the team with the third most 3 million attendance seasons is the San Francisco Giants with ten.

It is 28. At least that is what they stated during the game last Saturday. I believe many of those 2.9 million figures are actually over 3 million. The NL used to count attendance differently back then, I believe

I'll bet if you figured the number of innings everyone actually averaged and divided by 9, the number would be much closer to 2 million!

ESPN.com says that the "announced" attendance for today's Devil Rays must-win game was 11,722. To paraphrase an old Tony Kornheieser line, more than that show up for the Grand Opening of a new dry cleaner. It is now up to the California Angels to knock the Yankees out of the wild card chase, because Detroit lost today, too.

The Angels trail the Yankees by 4 in the loss column. The Yankees have 16 games remaining, but only three of them are against a team with a winning record.

It will be up to the Red Sox to sweep the Yankees in the final series of the season. Last year, the Baltimore Orioles played the final game of the season like it was Game 7 of the World Series. I'm sure I've recounted the story of the California Angels final seven games of the 1967 regular season. The Angels had contended in a five team race for most of the season before fading in early September, but their final seven games were against the Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers, two of the teams that remained in a virtual tie with the Red Sox up to the very end of the season. Angels manager Bill Rigney said those seven games would be his World Series and he played it that way. They beat Minnesota two games to one, then they lost two of the first three to Detroit, leaving the Tigers one half game behind the Red Sox, who beat the Twins on the final game of the season. The Angels had so many pitchers warming up in their bulpen that they didn't even have enough bench space for all of them to sit at the same time, and they won their own game seven, giving the 1967 pennant outright to the Red Sox.

Hopefully the Angels get hot thru the rest of the year :), They also play the Chi Sox !

It's exciting to still be in the race, but the hope is not as bright as it once was that they'll get there...and how far do they go?

Tough, tough series starts tonight against Texas while the Birds are up in Seattle. This could go either way BIG TIME in three days!!!!:popcorn

KCK, heres an article with Jerry Dipoto saying that he supports Scioscia. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-0918-angels-20120918,0,406944.story

I read it, thanks. It is a half-assed compliment. Nowhere does Jerry say he is keeping Mike if the Angels don't make the playoffs. At this point, I think he'll stay. BUT if the Angels fold and don't make a good run during this final 2 week stretch, I don't know if Mike is a keeper. If they revert back to the Angels of August he is a goner for sure.

Reds magic number is now 4. Might get to see them clinch Saturday when I see the Dodgers play.

How about the Orioles? My God. They won a marathon extra inning game last night. Maybe its the Orioles time. I think it might be too late for the Rays. They should've picked up some ground on the Yankees but they didnt.

I do have the regional Comcast SportsNets and usually when the Cubs, White Sox, Giants play on CSN, they are usually blacked out but because of the rain delay, I guess, I was able to watch some of the Cubs and the Pirates. I'm glad the Pirates are not folding. I mean you could still finish the year with your head held high. Speaking of which...

This pretty much somes up the Mets season. Matt Harvey pitches a gem. A 1 hitter. Mets go into the 9th leading 2-1. All the Mets need is one out to win. The next thing you know, Ryan Howard hits a 2 run home run and the Mets lose 3-2.

4-13 in the month of September, and 2-8 in the last 10 IS folding.

The Angels trail Baltimore and Oakland by 4 in the loss column with just 13 to go. That means they can't do it by themsleves. They will also need one of the teams ahead of them to lose more than they win over the final two weeks.

Through their first 100 games this year, Cleveland had a record of 50 and 50. Since then, they have gone 12-38.

Through their first 100 games this year, Pittsburgh had a record of 58-42. Since then, they have gone 16-32 and are now at .500, on their way to their 20th straight losing season.
