VIP 211 K Purchase

I believe any RECEIVER UPGRADE irregardless of where you buy it starts a new 24 mo. contract.

WRONG!
If you buy a receiver you own it. There is no contract for owned receivers.
The OP hasnt become a customer yet (per previous posts)

If you are a new customer and wanting to activate a purchased receiver Dish will probably make you pay an activation fee.

nope. It was already discussed in the other thread. I purchased a 211k and set up a new account with no activation fee. Just paid the 1st month up front

@ Iceberg: Post #4 you mentioned to contact a DIRT member to get set up. Just to clarify, I can ping a DIRT member and get activated without having to call DISH directly? If so, I prefer this.... shooting the info along, do errands and come back to an activated system instead of waiting on the phone.

Cheers, K

yup. Thats what I did when I set up an account back last year. Now that is when the Welcome Pack wasn't a package you could get from the get-go unless you went through a DIRT member (you can now) but yup I sent a PM to Mary asking what info she needed. Got a response and sent her all the info. Since you have to pay for the month up front I had her call me so I could give her the credit card info and was up and running in like 20 minutes

Returning customer. A few years ago. I need a backup for when the cable or electric is out. : /

In the 16 years ( no misprint + July 15, 1996 ) I have always purchased new receivers, sealed factory new. Never had a contract, never was I forced into auto-pay and even received HD for Life free.

I cannot tell you exactly, but I have purchased NEW over 20 receivers and I just call, activate and there is the picture. Never had a problem or fees, except for the receiver fee we all pay after the first one. That is my experience. :)

My ex-school teacher alarm went off.

Irregardless is a double negative.

Regardless means to regard less, adding -ir as a prefix means without regarding less or not regarding less.

Sorry, but if public schools do not educate, someone must.

Or if Jim's post had too many double-negatives for you, he meant to say that "irregardless" means the same thing as "regardless", even though it should not. For that reason, at least one dictionary has called it a "humorous redundancy".

In common use irregardless and regardless are assumed to mean the same thing when in fact they are opposites.

What about ain't lol :D

All the English teachers used to get on us kids for using that word.I think it's almost become an accepted word now.Oh and the pronunciation of figures, most folks say figgers not figures,in middle school our English teacher would almost take out the paddle over that.

No, in fact they mean the same thing according to the dictionary. They shouldn't, but they do.

Flammable and inflammable - synonyms. I also read grammar debates regarding, "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" and I still don't really know which one is correct.

Okay, this thread is officially off track.

it figgers, I missed all the fun. but it ain't like I couldn't care less irregardless of whether this thread unravels.

I no, I shouldn't of done that

So if an ebay seller is selling a receiver new in the box should I still check the R00 and S19 numbers? I still haven't bought one. : / I'd rather buy one local but I don't see anyone that sells them.

Where are these people on ebay getting NIB receivers?
