Unplugged over 5 minutes. first screen is download screen. : / Menu button does nothing.

what do you mean download screen?
It shouldnt try and load software until you found the signal (peaked the dish)

I wasn't trying it was stuck at that screen. It downloaded something. Its rebooting now.

Sounds like the dish is aimed properly then and just call into dish (or PM DIRT) to activate it. Once its active you may have to peak the dish and rerun the switch check.

I wonder what would happen if you unplugged it for a minute then plugged it back in? You might get that screen that I mentioned above which would allow you to get into the menus

Its asking for the caid number on the screen. Can it be activated through the phone line? I rebooted it and it tried to go to the menu screen but its at the same screen it was. I did unplug it earlier but it was still on step 2.

It says its unable to activate account and gives a number. Do i need an account setup before I have the receiver activated? and I still can not get into the menu to satellite pointing menu. I sent a PM to DIRT member. Waiting.....

Its just weird I could never get the the dish pointing screen.

Then after the dish is aimed you select "OK" and it does a check switch, then downloads new software and gets you to the "receiver not activated...call to activate" and has the R & S#'s on the screen

Once its activated then you can get into the menus

The first screen I saw was setting up the remote. but pressing menu at the point did nothing so I setup the remote then it went to searching for the receiver update.

signal strength is 20. sounds low. says locked at 72.7 on the screen.

Signal wise should be in the 40's or 50's at minimum. While the dish meter goes to 125 the highest on Eastern arc is 60's.....

its acquiring a signal now after the check switch. I can see PPV's earlier. I think I have the 72.7 lnb on 61.5. So if I do I should turn the dish to the right to find 72.7 correct?

The 211 takes forever to acknowledge a signal when you move the dish by the way (longer than FTA does)

Moved it to the right a bit got a 60 signal. I think I have it aimed now. Thanks to all. Now to figure out how to use this receiver. I got the cheap package for now. I think it was $14.99 a month. No commitment.

Glad to hear ya got it going.

I started to mention earlier that it was possible that the receiver was already getting a signal and thats why it went to the update instead of allowing you into the menu.

I think your right.

Anyways its working.....and it was a lot easier to aim than a FTA Ku offset with motor. : / lol
