Been on the site for a little while, reading and learning, but this is my first post. I've been following the evolution of the hopper since the debut, and really starting to get the urge to upgrade my vip612 and vip211k to the hopper system, but there are a few things I need to figure out.

I would like to go with a 2H/1J setup (adding a TV to what I have currently). Is it a big deal to add a 2nd Joey in a year or two when I finish my man cave? I don't mean hardware wise, I can handle that, but will E* be happy to mail me another Joey and then activate it without a hassle? What would it cost under today's plans to get that 2nd Joey, or would it be better to just get 2 joeys from the start and deal with the extra 7 bucks a month?

If I go with one HWS and one H2000 how does that work from an iPad? Can you access DVR content from the H2000 over the sling connection on the HWS, and can you prepare for transfers in the same manner? Now that I think about it, I would guess I'd need 2 HWS to do this, or have to use an EHD to shuffle things around ahead of time. Can someone confirm?

Once I get these things figured out, I just gotta convince the wife that its worth the extra money. That's the hard part!

There shouldn't be any issue with adding the Joey later on down the road.

If you get one HWS and one H2000 without the sling adapter, you will only be able to view the content over sling connection on the HWS ONLY. You can add a sling adapter to the h2000 and you can stream from both, but you will not be able to transfer the recordings on the H2000 to an iPad..

If you want a 2H/1J setup, you should try to find a local retailer. Dish's ordering system will not allow for a Hopper without a at least one Joey. IOW, you would have to order two Joey's. Some have reported refusing the second Joey during the install, but I don't know if that's a fool-proof measure.

One can always call after install is done and have it removed. It has been reported this works as well. I would hope OP can be able to do one or the other.
But then he gets hit with a $15.00 return shipping charge.

Enable the wireless broadband on the HWS.Bridge the broadband connection on the HWS to the H2000.Then you will have broadband internet on both Hoppers.;)

Did I read the OP's post wrong or what does enabling bridging the broadband connection have to do with streaming content from a H2000 without a sling adapter or transferring the recorded show to an iPad???:confused::confused:

Bridging allows the rest of the receivers to share the Hoppers ip connection.
I know that. Dd I completely misread the OP post or type the wrong thing, but what does bridging have to do with trying to sling content from a h2000 without a sling adapter just because you have 1 HWS?

!
this is what the OP said. Now yes, if the h2000 had a sling adapter, you would connect one hopper to router, enable bridging and you would be set. But he didn't ask that, he asked how do you access DVR content from the h2000 over the sling connection on the HWS and can you prepare for transfers in the same manner. Without a sling adapter on the h2000 you cannot not access content over sling regardless of having one HWS. You can access the HWS, but not the h2000. Also, no matter if you have the sling adapter or not you will not be able to transfer from a h2000 to an ipad.

Am I wrong or did I totally miss that enabling bridging with a HWS suddenly makes sling work on original hoppers without the red brick?
