I want to get Dish but I want to be sure I am not locked in for 24 months unless it works as good as my DirecTV.

Is there any time to cancel with no penalty after install (1 day or 1 week etc)?

After the 3 months can I cancel the free BB at Home and Movie Pack(HBO ect) and just continue with my standard package?

I recently moved from DirecTv to DISH and really love the DISH equipment and service.
I don't believe there is any "try out" period, so be sure you really want it before making the jump.
I moved because of the cost of DirecTv, otherwise probably would've stayed. The Hopper/Joey combination is great!
You can cancel the BB at Home and Premium movie channels after the 3 months.

I went through the order page and also used code AMAZONWEB for a $100 gift card free. I am EST time and ordered about 945pm and was offered a 12-5pm install window tomorrow (Sunday). I am not in a hurry but I wanted to be home and not leave it to someone else to wait at home for the installer so I picked tomorrow. Are they really going to be able to make that appt?

How do I make sure I get the new hopper with Sling and not the older model?

I believe that is what the first hopper is now. If you got a second one it might be the older model. BTW if you are getting anything over 1 Joey I strongly suggest a second hopper instead of one of the Joeys.

I'm getting 3 Joey with it.

What is the up front and monthly cost difference from 1HWS/3 Joeys compared to 2HWS/2 Joeys?

You should be able to get 1h/3j for free, the 2h/2j might run you at most $199, I think most people get it for $99.

I would consider what your usage is going to be before you automatically do 2 hoppers. my usage will only use one hopper even if I have TV in 4 rooms. Now granted a second hopper will give you a backup just in case it dies where if my hopper dies I'm screwed.

I just called (also PM'd by DIRT) the old hopper was offered for $99 but for HWS it is $199. My only problem with getting 1 older Hopper in the setup is that it is basically outdated equipment with a slower processor, no wifi and no internal sling adapter. I am not even sure the old hopper allows transfer to ipad feature. With that said the overall cost (equipt + monthly) for 24 months only slightly cheaper. I may have to reconsider and cancel the order; staying with DirecTV.

I have a 2 Hopper installation, one old, one new. Works quite well and event the 'old' Hopper is much faster at everything than the D* HRs.

The wifi on one suffices for both Hopper via the coax just fine, no need or really any use in having it on both Hoppers.

But the older one won't do iPad transfers. I don't find that to be an issue as how much or often will you actually do that?

When I looked at switching the cost differential in the first year, including the $100 for the 2nd Hopper worked out to be about $40/month. Beyond the first year, the cost differential between D* and E* at retail is minimal with E* being slightly less. That doesn't include any discounts after the first year that you can negotiate or get offered.

I switched because I wanted some channels in HD that D* didn't offer, the savings was just the gravy.

Primarily to lower my overall costs. Second reason was the Sling built in. I have an origial Sling Classic and have been wanting to upgrade it.

Will Dish give me any problem canceling the 24-month; I hope it doesn't take affect until the install happens?

I wish they would offer a 15 day trial period where if your not happy you can cancel and return . You can do it with cell phones and they require a 2 year agreement.

I do not have hardwired internet at any of the Hopper install locations. I planned on wifi. My house (about 6 yr old) is single pre-wired for TV in each room and D* internet does pass through coax just fine.
Will internet pass through the E* equipment without any hardwired internet? Does the room need more than one "TV" connection on the wall? I do not want new wire ran.

Three joeys? I strongly say get a second Hopper for a one time charge unless there are only two of you in the house. Even then, for back-up alone get two.
Take some time and read what others have taken time to post. You're only getting a couple of posts of advice when there's so much others will tell you both before and after their install and what they wish they had done, or are glad they have done.

Just right from the beginning, there will be one Joey that can not watch live what they want if the Hopper and two other's are watching live, and less Joeys will be able to if you have programs recording. It only takes two programs recording and one person watching live so that no other Joey can watch what they want live unless it's what the one person is watching. (More can watch at night if you use PTAT however and any can watch recorded programs, also if you get an OTA tuner that adds how many can watch)

I'm all wireless in my house too. I have a DSL Modem/Router that is connected to my Apple Time Capsule as the main wireless distribution center and an Apple Airport Extreme at my AVR that extends the wireless networking and also allows my non-wireless AV equipment to connect to it via ethernet cable.

The Hopper w/Sling is connected to the internet via wireless and shares that connection to the other Hopper via the coax. The internal coax is a single coax to each Hopper from the Node that has 3 cables from the dish to it.

So yes, the internet will pass to any Hopper/Joey via the coax used to connect them to the satellite system, and yes it is a single coax at each TV location.
