Being the Star Wars fan I am, Dish had better keep the Disney stations this September.

Dear Dish Network. Although I am quite satisfied with your service, I kindly request that you don't have the Disney stations removed this September, especially since Disney has the rights to Star Wars now. It would be nice to see you continue to keep these stations, and possibly returning the HD service to them and maybe bringing the Disney Junior station as well. If I see another debacle like I did with AMC, I will have to be forced to switch to DirecTV (although I will miss TheBlaze). Please also consider making Fox Movie channel in HD as well.

I think you will see a deal between the two as they both need each other.

Last week was Team Summit and Disney had a major presence at the event which to me is a good sign. :)

Can't wait for the next Disney-Dish contract talks. I can see it now, we(Disney) now demand that you carry every channel that we produce and you (Dish) will pay whatever we demand. We(Disney) now own Star Wars and the "force" is with us, and oh, those aren't the droids you're looking for.

i expect we will lose all of them when contract ends at least til after the first of the year. espn has just let possibly hundreds of people go. disney said it's because they are building some new digital center but i think they know this is going to be a long drawn out fight. who lets go of a large portion of there work force for an expansion project? no intelligent person. i also think the disney/espn contract is the biggest reason for the 2 nbcsports channels coming this summer to take up the slack and give espn some competition. (although i doubt it's much competition)

Wow. You guys really put a lot of thought into these Dish contract negotiations. I think you all read into these a little too much.

I'm not getting the connection of Disney having rights to Star Wars, and Dish having or not having Disney. Are you thinking Disney is going to be having some kind of Star Wars channel or marathon? They do not have exclusive rights to air the older movies at least at this time. They are producing a new film for the Movie theaters, not TV slated to be out in 2015. It's possible at some point Disney will be the only ones to have rights to show any Star Wars material, by that time I keep hearing there will only be internet access to TV....... :D

I think I read the contracts come up in September. It would not surprise me if the channels dropped for a week, but I think it is highly unlikely as college football starts and Disney can't lose 14 million subs to espn at the start of the highly lucrative college season and Dish cant be without espn for the same reason.

Ahh, didn't see that announcement. Thanks! Still have about a year and half to worry about it.

I know this sounds mercenary and I do want Disney to be on DISH and I will not leave DISH. Instead, I will be first in line for the freebies they will most certainly have to give out to stop a mass exodus of subscribers if they do have to turn Disney off even for a short time.

I have a very bad feeling about this.

Stretch out with your feelings.

Desire you must. Know how to serve them best, If you leave now, help them you could, but you would destroy all for what's they have fight and suffered.

I doubt that all channels will return in HD but I am not worried about losing the channels altogether. I myself could care less about the Disney channels being in HD but I would like to see ESPNU in HD. The Disney cartoons look just fine in SD. I know the HD is better but it doesn't make as big of difference as it does with a real movie. (And yes, I do watch plenty of programs on the Disney channels, I have a 4 year old boy)

If they drop the channels in Sept. I will wait it out but I will have one of our cable companies come and install their service. There is no way I will miss college football. If it goes on and on and on I'll just drop Dish and pay the EFT. We are huge college football fans. I hope everything works out but I doubt it will go smooth.

It's a good thing that Disney didn't acquire the rights to Star Trek. Dish would not fare too well against "Resistance is futile."
