Well there's still a commitment and I stand firmly on it. It's just like any other upgrade. Arguing about it here won't make a difference, maybe OP will clarify, but I think he means "may be" as in "even though there is a commitment, I'll do it anyway." Thank you for your failed attempt at teaching English, though.

Perhaps you should not add words to another person's statement. Whatever, still waiting on Roger.

Says you, but NO definite, official conformation. I'm with Gary. Hopefully Roger will do us the favor of sharing his outcome.

Speaking of English, it's CONFIRMATION.

Except that you are not entirely correct.

There is no commitment if you pay to have it installed. Apparently, he was able to waive the install fee in exchange for a 24-month commitment. However, to repeat, the commitment is not required if you pay the $95 tech fee (or $15 plus 7/mo Protection Plan).

Of course, the $7/mo Joey fee still applies regardless regardless of what type of deal was struck to get the Joey installed, or even if one bought it themselves.

Halo, I have voluntarily reported out "spat" to the moderators. Said I would not post again but "receiver" in the provided link is not a Joey. Sorry, mods.

Quit arguing, let the OP chime in on the cost etc, everything else is speculation till or if the OP posts again... :)

Hmm. Never heard of such. I always thought that all leased receiver upgrades required a commitment regardless of install fees, since Dish is still footing the bill for the receiver. Maybe the Joey is different. I'll have to ask DIRT.

The title of the linked thread is "Adding my own Joey". So, there's a pretty good chance it is.

You'd think that that would've been obvious...

It's possible that I misunderstood DIRT, when they answered my inquiries about adding a Joey. But, that would be pretty petty to require a 2-year commitment for a $99 receiver that would have been free with the original installation.

Technically Joey MSRP is $149.

Who cares if is commitment or not unless you plan on canceling service, But me personally I would get it free with 2 year commitment then pay so much for a Hopper client.
