I haven't ordered a PPV in YEARS. I decided to use up a PPV certificate on Elysium. I went to mydish, etc and did the "order now" routine. I entered an expired cert #, just in hopes, and it came back "expired." So I entered a non-expired one, and it accepted it. I noted it said I had 24 hours to watch it from DVR after I first started it.

I can't find it. The 501, etc, series is VOD not PPV. Nothing has appeared on my DVR or under Rentals.

How do I DVR it? How do I check to see what PPV have been ordered (can't find it at mydish)?

BTW, I never indicated which of my HWS to view it from.

Elysium is on channel 509. Should be viewable from any Hopper or Joey. If you check you guide, it should say "RENTED" on the titles for that channel.

You might try recording more than one showing. That way, you can watch one, and when it expires in 24 hours, simply pull up another to watch at a later date. You should have at least a month or two to view them.

Did it give you a ch # when you ordered??? Usually it has the ch # w the ppv when you order it???if you just find that number you are able to tune in and record the future showings as it should be a 24 hr rental

Check ppv purchases on the hopper to see if it has the ch number as well

Thank you. I don't know how I missed that. Now I wonder if I can DVR it on both HWS. I'll give it a try!

Should be able to do that, even at the same time. You have four more showings that you can record. If you try to record a second (or third, or fourth) time, you will have to go in and restore the later timers, as they will default to not record due to "Already exists in DVR".

I recorded more than one copy of "Man of Steel" last month, and I still have until April to watch the extra copies. The 24 hour timer starts when you first begin viewing each copy.

Good.

I recorded one on each HWS, at different times. Both show as set for recording. One good aspect of not having full Hopper Integration!

Enjoy the movie...let us know how it is

Lurker comment - didn't care for it at all. Found it dull. Also used a PPV certificate for it.

Best movies out there on Dish Cinema right now - 'Prisoners', 'You're Next', and 'the Conjuring'. 'Prisoners' might be best movie of the year.

Got it on both HWS. But the "Rented" marker went away and if I try to order it now, it wants more money.

Nope. Just saw the icon in the DVR lists on both Hoppers.

It's just my wife and I, and we're next to each other almost all the time when we're both home.

I think I should have marked more to record before the first recording started. No biggie, it's really a test more than anything.

Most of these rentals are for 24 hours. They go away after that, at least the viewing part of it.
Different movies can have different options, but generally you can keep them for ~30 days unwatched. There's also the 24-hour clock that you mention - once you start watching it, in theory* you have that 24 hours to watch it all or even watch it multiple times.

* We used a certificate to rent the last Batman movie and it still let us watch it 3-4 months later. Obviously that was a glitch though....
