Still on 503 and account icon still there.

I don't get excited about updates any more. I'm scared they'll break my optical audio output again. They fixed that a few updates ago, but with 503 it started to act up again. Only happens every once in a while.

Yep, it's no longer exciting to see new releases lately. Almost used to be like a kid during the holidays or birthdays. Can't wait to see what we got. Now it's 'meh', at best.

And I've finally had it with some of the issues I've seen not fixed in over a year. I'm going to outline the issues I see/experience and send a letter directly to Vivek Khemka. He has user experience under his leadership and needs to know Dish is just not providing it as best they can. Not holding my breath, but you never know. And I won't settle for a "great idea, we'll be sure to pass this along to our engineers" type of a response you typically see.

Post a copy of your list here please. I here this and that, but have never seen an all inclusive list of the issues. Especially, since most issues only effect some receivers.
 
I checked today and 506 was on both of my hoppers...came at 1:27 this morning. I didn't have time to look for changes but what was interesting is that I am usually at the end of the pipe when it comes to getting any updates--usually a week on longer after the early birds get theirs. This update may be different in that they are not slowly deploying it in small batches. Therefore a reasonable person may conclude that the code changes must be minimal or they wouldn't take the risk.

I had a couple of posts with pictures of the issues from months ago. I think they are all still applicable. I even post some feedback to the real Dish support forums on these and get the typical "good idea, we'll pass this along..." canned response. Getting a better feeling as to where they are 'passing this along' to. <Hint: It can round or rectangular and usually sits right next to a desk or located on your PC's desktop screen.>

I do not use the EHD a lot but the last time I did two days ago it worked fine to transfer maybe 12 items. Not a power EHD user like some on this group who do see issues.

I do not have an OTA module as I live on the fringe of Chicago and get locals from Dish. Can't get good OTA anyway and not concerned about the x.2 and x.3 substation shows. But I feel for the people who use it and have issues with this and/or the EHD.

I did give a plus to the HDMI CEC fix, but Dish busted that like a new Christmas toy a few weeks later. Since December it now only turns on both devices. Does not shut both off like it should, and did. Back to a minus IMO.

And for me a new one popped up recently that (I think) used to happen but was fixed at one time. Watch a recording from the DVR and when done try to scroll through the (uggh) icon jungle only to find that after a few rows down the icons start to repeat again from the ones at the top. You have to exit the recordings screen altogether THEN go back in to watch something else.That's always enjoyable after a 12 hour work day when all I want to do is relax for a while and watch TV.

If I only had a dollar for every time I had to swear at the Hopper...

Oh, don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVE the Hopper and been a Dish customer for close to 15 years. In a lot of my posts I make sure I let readers know I am not a troll stomping on Dish. As a tech guy who has developed software applications and done web development for many, many years I'm just a stickler for making things as logical and easy to use as possible.

Perfection should be the goal knowing that you may never reach it, but make big strides to get there. Have not seen any big strides in the user interface/bugs and only "fluff" enhancements leading me to believe they are directed to focus mainly on new customer acquisition with a "WOW!" factor and only major bug fixes.

I used to joke with my daughter and say that if I was a robot I would marry the Hopper (with Sling of course). Trophy wife. :biggrin2

I've been running into this one a TON lately as well. :(
 
I got S506 last night, which went from S503. Do not see any changes or improvements yet. I am always one of the last to get updates, so I assume that everyone has S506 by now.
 
Well it looks like S506 MAY have fixed the issue where a timer wouldn't fire if you have 3 scheduled at the same time. Was getting the "cancelled by user" crap. I was recording 2 shows at the 9pm slot and had 3 scheduled for 10pm slot. They all started without any issues.
