I just called to switch from directv to dish network. I wanted a Hopper a super Joey and wireless Joey. During the setup I was told that in order to get a super Joey that I had to have 4 tv's. Is that accurate?

No it's not accurate. Call a local retailer if you have one, they'll be able to set you up.

Why can't these CSRs ever just give the customer what they want. I know the computer in front of them says that they need a TV for each tuner but there are manual exceptions that can be made.

I have three tvs. I switched from direct the day the Super Joey was released. I ordered online. I have a Hopper, Super Joey, and Regular Joey. I think I may have had to pay a bit extra to get the SJ but it was not much.

Your set up sounds fine. If you dispute what the CSR is saying, just ask to be transffered to Loyalty. They will square you away. Me personally, ask for the Broadband department. Those are the smartest agent Dish highers, and most of the DIRT team comes from them. It is literally, the most trained department they have.(and most abused, lol)

You could also try to sign up via chat. That is what I did and I was able to order exactly what I wanted.

FYI, we cannot setup new accounts, as this is one of the few things we are not trained on. We have to refer anyone looking to setup services to the sales department.
Is there a way to contact the sales department directly via phone or online?

Tell them you have 4 Tv's.

And then cancel the 4th at time of install. Or even right after so the installer can get a tad more compensation than he would for 3 TVs. I love it when people have me install less than the order.

Quick update. After 3 credits checks with dish and each one telling me different things about how many tv's I would need to be able to get a Hopper, super joey and wireless joey I gave up and tried gwdish. They gave me what I wanted along with $200 and had someone install the next day only problem is my super joey will not connect to the Hopper, he tried swapping out the super joey but no luck, I have someone coming out tomorrow to try and fix it. Thanks to all for the advice.

I'd say cable length would be my first check, then cabling to the hopper..

I have a hopper and a super joy setup just two TVs

I set up a guy with a Hopper and Super Joey last week. It's part of the normal signup process. You might have gotten a newbie in direct sales.
